Awakening and Innate Soul Power

Soul Power is awakened alongside a person's Martial Soul at the age of six. Only people whose Martial Souls awaken with Soul Power can become Soul Masters; the initial amount is determined by Martial Soul quality. 14

Spirit Rings and Bottlenecks

A Soul Master obtains Spirit Rings from Soul Beasts to pass cultivation bottlenecks and gain Soul Skills. 14

At each bottleneck, Soul Power may continue accumulating, but the Soul Master cannot properly advance or gain further improvements until a Spirit Ring is acquired. Once the ring is absorbed, the stored cultivation manifests rapidly. 14

Attribute Compatibility

Soul Power reflects both the Martial Soul's innate attributes and the properties of absorbed Spirit Rings.

• Angel Soul Power can carry holy, light, and fire attributes; a rare dual-attribute Spirit Ring can allow light and fire to erupt together in one skill. 37
• A Spirit Ring's attribute can restrict a Soul Skill's output. Qian Renxue's light-attributed first ring produced a shield with only Light Attribute Soul Power, leaving its fire potential unused. 23
• The Eight-Winged Fallen Angel possesses Ultimate Darkness, Ultimate Yin Cold, and Ultimate Evil. Its Soul Power density surpasses that of the Six-Winged Angel, though a weaker user can still be overwhelmed by a vastly greater quantity of Soul Power. 11

Fallen Angel Soul Power

Devouring

Ultimate Darkness grants Fallen Angel Soul Power a devouring property. It can consume foreign Soul Power at the point of contact and feed that energy back to its user. 13 25

• It gives the user exceptional endurance in battles of attrition. 13
• It can devour poison and convert foreign Soul Power within the poisonous barrier of Sunset Forest. 17
• It can consume vitality as well as Soul Power; black Soul Power causes living trees to wither after draining their life force. 34

Soul Power can be shaped into weapons and manifested through Martial Soul Possession.

• Qian Daoliu condenses holy Soul Power into a two-chi holy sword. 5
• Qian Renhan forms black Soul Power into swords, including the Dark Holy Sword created by his Fifth Soul Skill. 34
