Background / History
Guiyuan was originally a giant turtle known as Shen Gui. He had transmigrated to the Eternal Life Great World, attained the position of Immortal King there, and eventually returned to the Primordial World. Refusing the fate of a turtle destined to support Heaven, he used the Great Blood Soul Technique to attempt a humanoid transformation in the North Sea. The resulting Heavenly Tribulation nearly destroyed him before he entered the River of Destiny through the Great Destiny Technique and changed the root of his fate. 1 3
After completing his transformation, he announced his Dao name to the Great Dao: Guiyuan. He then received the innate inheritance Mysterious Turtle Supporting the Heavens, though he considered its defensive focus inadequate as his primary path due to his prior knowledge of the Three Thousand Great Daos and numerous divine abilities. 3
Guiyuan defeated his Northern Abyss neighbor Kunpeng in a contest for the Xuanyuan Controlling Water Flag. He subsequently refined the treasure and began pursuing merit and luck as safeguards against the future consequences of altering his fate. His chosen method was to cleanse the Northern Continent's Sha Qi, restore its damaged spirit veins, and convert Ferocious Beast remains into pills and treasures. 5 6 7 8
At Changbai Mountain, Guiyuan rescued Xuanming from the wounded Taowu King and formed a temporary alliance with her and Styx. The three eventually slew the Daluo-level Ferocious Beast, after which Guiyuan refined its remains, acquired the damaged North Xuan Stele, and continued restoring the northern ancestral vein. 10 11 15 16
Seeking a Dao Fruit powerful enough to change his fate, Guiyuan rejected the straightforward path of using his innate Defense Dao to attain Daluo. Instead, he resolved to comprehend the Three Thousand Laws and condense a unique Guiyuan Dao. This led him to Mount Buzhou, where he travelled with Fuxi and Nüwa, received the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Art inheritance, and developed the body-tempering method Three Thousand Guiyuan. 17 19 23 24
Appearance
In humanoid form, Guiyuan is a gray-robed Daoist with an ancient, deep aura. His original form is a colossal Black Turtle whose physical presence surpasses that of the wounded Taowu King and impresses even Xuanming and Styx. 10 14 15
- His original turtle shell bears mysterious runes that illuminate during transformation. 1
- His true form is a gigantic Mysterious Turtle/Black Turtle. 14
- He can manifest eight identical avatars alongside his true body. 5 14
- His physical foundation lets him endure Mount Buzhou's pressure with little difficulty. 22
Personality
Guiyuan is notably calm in battle. He sees through Kunpeng's schemes, answers threats with measured force, and rarely wastes words once he decides on a course of action. 4 5 18
His experiences in the Eternal Life Great World make him highly pragmatic and acquisitive. He views the Dragon-Han Catastrophe, Ferocious Beast corpses, Sha Qi, and even hostile cultivators as potential resources for cultivation. This pragmatism is tempered by careful calculation: he spared Xuanming not out of weakness, but because attacking a figure tied to Pangu's fortune would bring unacceptable karmic consequences. 8 11 18
Despite his ruthlessness, Guiyuan can be generous toward useful allies. He provided Xuanming with Essence Qi Pills, shared Dao insights with Kunpeng, Styx, Fuxi, and Nüwa, and gave Styx the Taowu King's Chaos Sha origin for tempering Yuantu and Abhi. 7 12 15 22
Abilities & Skills
Great Destiny Technique
Guiyuan's most consequential technique allows him to perceive and influence fate through the River of Destiny.
- Used it to witness his destined dismemberment and add a fate of transformation to his origin. 3
- Allowed him to evade the immediate Heavenly Tribulation caused by transforming into humanoid form. 3 6
- Lets him better navigate calamities, though he recognizes that altering his fate is only a temporary solution unless he gains sufficient strength, merit, and luck. 6 8
Eight Gods Return to the Ultimate and Primordial Heavenly Dao
Guiyuan can divide himself into eight avatars and combine their power with his true body.
- Creates eight clones identical to the main body in aura, cultivation, and Dao rhythm. 5
- Each clone possesses peak Primordial Unity Golden Immortal combat power. 5
- Cost him 300,000 years of lifespan during his battle with Kunpeng; his immense lifespan makes this expenditure comparatively minor. 5
- Primordial Heavenly Dao combines his true body and eight avatars into nine streams of primordial power capable of halting the Taowu King's charge. 10
- Used with temporarily borrowed Daluo power to grind away the Taowu King's remaining Daluo characteristic. 15
Great Wish Technique
A vow-based technique that temporarily borrows power from the future.
- Used great vows to cleanse the north and teach its living beings in exchange for a sliver of Daluo-level authority. 15
- Enabled him to defeat and permanently kill the Taowu King. 15
- Severely drained him after use. 15
- His vows must be fulfilled after reaching Daluo or he will suffer severe backlash. 15
True Form and Physical Body
Guiyuan possesses an exceptionally powerful turtle body, refined over an entire kalpa.
- Revealed his Black Turtle true form against the Taowu King. 14
- Used his true form and eight manifestations to surround and restrict the Taowu King. 14
- His physical body is strong enough to withstand Mount Buzhou's pressure far more easily than Fuxi and Nüwa. 22
- He considers his physical strength superior to Xuanming's despite her Ancestral Witch body. 13
Three Thousand Guiyuan
Guiyuan's personal body-tempering method, developed from the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Art and his understanding of two worlds' Dao systems.
- Uses the Three Thousand Laws to temper and imprint laws into his body. 24
- Allows an imprinted Law to be driven directly through physical movement without requiring divine-soul activation. 24
- His innate Defense Law is already perfected. 24
- He intends to imprint the Five Elements Laws early, as they are both practical and difficult to balance later in the method. 24
Concealment and Movement Techniques
Guiyuan possesses several techniques for escaping, infiltration, and battlefield positioning.
- Great Concealment Technique hides his aura, karma, and presence, allowing him to remain undetected by Fuxi and Nüwa. 10 18 19
- Great Teleportation Technique enabled him to avoid a Taowu's attack and rapidly travel across the Northern Continent. 9 17
- Great Spacetime Technique allowed him to rescue Xuanming from the Taowu King and escape through layered void. 10
Refinement, Alchemy, and Restoration
Guiyuan converts hostile environments and slain enemies into cultivation resources.
- Refined Ferocious Beast corpses and Sha Qi into the Thirty-Three Heavens Fierce Sha Treasures. 8
- Produced Essence Qi Pills, Fierce Sha Pills, and Chaos Dao Pills from Ferocious Beast remains. 8
- Refined a living Taowu to strengthen his Myriad Sha Banner. 9
- Used the Great Regression Technique to restore land damaged by Sha Qi and battle, earning merit. 8
- Refined the Taowu King's soul and body into his Fiendish Treasures while cleansing Changbai Mountain's ancestral vein. 16
