The Emperor's Capital is being watched over by Old Man Yan, so Yu Sui feels a bit more reassured about Zhongli Que.
As for whether that Little Medical Saint is related to Nangong Ming, or if she is Lady Su's daughter Qingkui, Yu Sui isn't in a hurry. She's not in the Emperor's Capital right now, and worrying won't help. She'll wait for the right time, and she'll eventually find out the answer.
What she can confirm for now is that Chu Jin harbors ill intentions towards the Zhongli Family, probing for weaknesses.
This is the kind of thing Nangong Ming would usually do.
Therefore, Yu Sui has already formed a judgment about Chu Jin's true identity, just waiting for conclusive evidence. Previously, when the feudal states rebelled, Zhongli Ci was sent to suppress them and hadn't returned to the Emperor's Capital for a long time. Now that the war is over, he's still outside wrapping things up. Nangong Ming, due to Gu Gan's matter, took some time to return to the Emperor's Capital. After sending Yu Sui away, he returned to the battlefield and hasn't come back since.
Whether it's dealing with the Zhongli Family or the Nangong Family, for the people of the Emperor's Capital or the other Five Kingdoms, this is the best opportunity before the heads of these two families return.
What's happening in the Emperor's Capital is a constant reminder to Yu Sui: your time is running out.
You need to get stronger, fast.
Reaching Nangong Ming's or Lady Su's cultivation realm within a single year is obviously unrealistic. The fastest way is to master the Mystic Technique: Heavenly Eye.
Yu Sui put away the Listening Wind Ruler and turned her gaze back to the ripe apricots on the tree.
She had only been away from the Taoist Saint Hall for one day, yet those unripe fruits had unknowingly turned yellow-red, looking incredibly appealing.
Yu Sui tiptoed, reaching out to pull down a branch and pluck one or two ripe apricots.
She wiped the skin with her sleeve, brought it to her lips, and took a bite. The slightly soft fruit pulp was sweet and sour, and delicious.
Yu Sui walked to the edge of the stone steps and sat down, taking out the Listening Wind Ruler to send a message to Mei Chengyu: "Senior Martial Brother, the apricots in the Saint Hall courtyard are ripe and ready to eat, they're very sweet."
Mei Chengyu isn't afraid of losing points because his points increase quickly, but no one knows why his points increase so fast.
Yu Sui also wants to know why, so she's contacting her senior martial brother, who has already gone to Mechanism Island, to maintain their sect's camaraderie.
Mei Chengyu didn't reply, probably busy.
After finishing the apricots she picked, Yu Sui sensed that her Master had returned.
Although Sage Chang Gen spends most of his time at the Saint Hall, he is sometimes called away by others from the academy and is even responsible for assessing the grades of the Ghost Dao School disciples.
Yu Sui stood up and walked up the steps. The door to the Saint Hall Main Hall was not closed. She could hear faint insect chirps in the night. She walked to the door and said, "Master, I want to ask you about the Heavenly Eye."
Sage Chang Gen replied, "The Heavenly Eye ranks third among Mystic Techniques. It's considered a very dangerous and powerful Esoteric Skill Supernatural Ability. People's understanding of it is very limited. They only know that it can see through things and control things, but they don't know how to use it."
It seemed her Master knew what she wanted to ask, so he directly told her everything he knew.
Yu Sui fell silent.
Her Master's meaning was clear: "Your Mystic Technique is powerful, but I don't know how to use it either."
Come to think of it, if her Master knew, he would have taught her how to use it long ago.
Possessing an Esoteric Skill Supernatural Ability but not knowing how to use it, and having to bear the danger of accidentally exposing it – Yu Sui felt this life setting was truly terrible.
The worst part is that she's gotten used to this kind of life.
Yu Sui walked into the Main Hall and sat down behind her own table, but her gaze drifted to Mei Chengyu's table next door: "Master, what does Senior Martial Brother do on Mechanism Island?"
Sage Chang Gen replied, "He does what he's willing to do."
Yu Sui propped her head up with one hand, still looking at her senior martial brother's table: "Can doing what he's willing to do help his disciple points increase again?"
Sage Chang Gen said, "Yes, because what he does is beneficial to Taiyi and contributes to it."
Yu Sui asked curiously, "Then what is it?"
Sage Chang Gen said, "It's your senior martial brother's secret. I can't tell you without his permission."
Yu Sui, however, smiled with curved eyes.
She quite liked that her Master kept his promises and was trustworthy.
Yu Sui asked, "Then if I kill someone from the academy in the outer city in the future and lose points, how can I quickly increase my points again?"
"Doing things that are beneficial to Taiyi and contribute to it is the fastest way to increase points," Sage Chang Gen said. "Secondly, it's to improve one's personal cultivation realm."
Yu Sui asked blankly, "But what counts as the former?"
Sage Chang Gen said, "This involves the academy's rules. For fairness, I cannot reveal it either."
"Alright." Yu Sui didn't act spoiled or try to force him to make things difficult for the old man. "Senior Martial Brother was attacked in the outer city this time. Will Master help find out who did it?"
"No," Sage Chang Gen said. "We will not interfere in the grievances of the outer city, unless your senior martial brother summons us."
Yu Sui nodded and said solemnly, "Next time, I will definitely remember to summon you, Master."
Sage Chang Gen paused: "Good."
Yu Sui sensed a hint of relief from this Consciousness Transfer.
It was as if Sage Chang Gen also wanted to stand up for his disciple, but unfortunately, his disciple never called him when something happened, so he couldn't intervene and could only watch his disciple get beaten up.
Yu Sui hesitated for a moment, then spoke: "I will help Senior Martial Brother."
Sage Chang Gen: "It's naturally good for you Senior Martial Brothers and Sisters to help each other. There's no need to force it. Your senior martial brother is fond of fighting. Whether it's a good person or a bad person, an enemy or a friend, it's good that there are still people in this world who make him willing to think, to get angry, and to suppress his Desire for Destruction."
Yu Sui thought for a moment and said sincerely, "The person who can make Senior Martial Brother suppress his Desire for Destruction is you, Master."
Sage Chang Gen did not respond for a long time.
Sage Chang Gen waited quietly, only to hear him say, "It's not enough."
He alone was not enough.
Because he would disappear sooner or later.
Now, seeing that his eldest disciple had more and more friends, and that they were all good karma he had cultivated with him, excellent and kind children, Sage Chang Gen felt a little more reassured.
Yu Sui suddenly remembered that on the day she was attacked in the outer city, Mei Chengyu unexpectedly met Black Beard who came to find her, and then Black Beard sent her back. He waited downstairs and didn't leave.
He said his Master told him to wait.
Not knowing what was wrong, Yu Sui asked, "Master, on the day I was attacked in the outer city, did you ask Senior Martial Brother to guard me?"
Sage Chang Gen said, "No."
The Listening Wind Ruler in Yu Sui's hand lit up. She looked down; it was Mei Chengyu replying to her previous message: "I've eaten those apricots for over ten years. This year there was a lot of rain, and I didn't eat them, but I knew they weren't as sweet as in previous years."
After a pause, he immediately added another message: "Save some for yourself, don't eat them all."
Yu Sui smiled and replied, "When will Senior Martial Brother be back?"
Mei Chengyu: "In three days."
Three days to earn back the points deducted for killing someone, it was indeed fast.
Yu Sui replied, "Then I'll save one for you, Senior Martial Brother."
Mei Chengyu, who was far away on Mechanism Island, got busy again and didn't reply.
Instead, Gu Gan's messages kept coming, from asking if Yu Sui was asleep to apologizing to her, thinking she was angry and ignoring him because he hadn't accompanied her shopping in the outer city.
Yu Sui got up. The Five Elements Light Core had naturally disappeared after its time was up during the day, so she would go back and see what was happening at the dormitory area.
Yu Sui returned to the dormitory area and took the dragon elevator up. When she reached the dormitory door, she saw Gu Gan standing at the door with a frown. Qian Ying was saying something next to him. Noticing someone approaching, he turned around and was stunned to see Yu Sui.
"Suisui," Gu Gan greeted first, "You're finally back."
"Brother Gu," Yu Sui looked at Qian Ying curiously, "Who is this?"
"This is Qian Ying," Gu Gan introduced, "I don't know if you remember."
Yu Sui's expression became enlightened, "So it's you."
She smiled slightly, her gaze towards Qian Ying also friendly.
Qian Ying returned a polite smile, "County Princess, I didn't expect to see you here again."
Yu Sui asked curiously, "It's been many years since we last met. I didn't expect you to be at Taiyi Academy too. Did you come with Brother Gu?"
Qian Ying smiled, "Yes."
Gu Gan said, "Aying is now a Grade A disciple of the medical school, and it's thanks to her help this time."
After speaking, he covered his shoulder and frowned, as if the thunder seal had acted up, causing unbearable pain from the burning of thunder and fire.
Qian Ying quickly supported him, "Brother Gu, hold on a little longer. The thunder seal will disappear after tonight."
Yu Sui, standing beside them, looked at Gu Gan with a bewildered and worried expression, silently asking what had happened.
Gu Gan showed Qian Ying a look of reassurance, signaling her not to support him, and then said to Yu Sui, "Suisui, let's go inside and talk."
Qian Ying did not follow. She had other matters to attend to. After watching the two enter the room, she left.
As soon as Yu Sui entered the room, she saw Li Jinshuang standing silently in the main room. Her bedroom was occupied by the unconscious Xiang Feifei, and not wanting to stay there, she leaned against the wall, lost in thought.
Seeing Yu Sui and Gu Gan enter, she merely raised her eyelids before lowering them again.
Xun Zhiya and Shu Chujun were not present.
Gu Gan walked directly towards Yu Sui's room, indicating that their conversation was private.
Yu Sui closed the door and looked at Gu Gan with concern, "Are you injured?"
"It's nothing, I'll be fine soon." Gu Gan sat down by the table and looked at Yu Sui, who was standing at the door, "I was afraid you'd be angry because you went to the outer city alone. After all, I said before that you should call me if you went to the outer city."
"I went to the outer city to buy things, it's really not a big deal. It's normal for Brother Gu to be delayed by something more important and not be able to go." Yu Sui smiled, "How could I be so petty and get angry?"
Gu Gan saw her bright face smiling, his eyes deepened, and he couldn't help but recall the scene of Yu Sui holding Mei Chengyu's hand as they flew away using the Wind Riding Technique.
So he spoke directly, "Last night, I left the academy and went to the outer city to kill Mei Chengyu."
Yu Sui froze. She widened her eyes slightly and looked at Gu Gan. After confirming he wasn't joking, she covered her mouth, "Brother Gu..."
Gu Gan said in a deep voice, "You returned from the Taoist Saint Hall, and perhaps Sage Chang Gen also told you about your Senior Martial Brother being attacked in the outer city last night. Mei Chengyu killed Wei Kun last night, but I was cooperating with Wei Kun. I helped him get rid of Mei Chengyu, and he helped me get rid of Zhongli Shan."
"So, Brother Gu did this because of the task Father gave you?" Yu Sui's eyes were worried, and her eyes began to well up with tears.
Gu Gan's voice softened involuntarily, "Since I promised you, I will definitely do it. It's just, Suisui, if possible, it's best for you to stay away from Mei Chengyu. Your Senior Martial Brother is far more wicked than you think."
As he spoke, his voice couldn't help but become cold, "You haven't been at Taiyi Academy for long, and you are his direct Junior Martial Sister. You interacted frequently in the Taoist Saint Hall, but this person is good at disguising himself, his temper is unpredictable, and he kills without batting an eye."
Gu Gan looked intently at Yu Sui, "Your relationship with me is extraordinary, and he must have some scheme in his heart. He pretends to be close to you, using the affection of the sect, to set a trap around you."
"Senior Martial Brother?" Yu Sui's eyes were full of bewilderment and disbelief, "Is he really that kind of person? But from what Master told me, it doesn't seem like it."
She explained timidly, "Last time in the outer city, it was Senior Martial Brother who rushed to save my life."
Gu Gan was stung by these words, a gloomy mood settling in his heart, along with a touch of annoyance.
His carelessness had allowed those dog things from the Farming School to exploit a loophole and attack Sui Sui in the outer city.
He figured that assassination attempt must have caused Sui Sui severe psychological trauma, which was why she thought Mei Chengyu was a good person.
Perhaps it was precisely because of that chance life-saving grace in the outer city that Sui Sui couldn't stand by and watch the heavily injured Mei Chengyu die, even sending him back to the academy's Medical School.
Gu Gan believed this reasoning was sound.
"I will also help you repay your kindness, there's no need to worry about it so much," Gu Gan looked up at Yu Sui, his expression incredibly serious. "But, Sui Sui, listen to me for once, don't get too close to him."
He feared his anger towards Mei Chengyu would only grow.
He wanted to shield Yu Sui from all those complicated entanglements and grievances, to keep her uninvolved and free from worry.
Her life had already been incredibly difficult because of the Xi Rang, she didn't need to fret over unnecessary things.
Gu Gan knew Nangong Ming's cold-bloodedness and casual disregard for Yu Sui, and he also knew Lady Su's reservations and indifference towards her. Yet, these two were impeccable towards him, making it impossible for him to harbor resentment or hostility towards Nangong Ming and Lady Su because of Yu Sui's experiences.
All he could do was protect Yu Sui, allowing County Princess to live a simple, carefree life. All the dirty, sordid, and bloody affairs were his burden to bear.
Even though Yu Sui could now cultivate, Gu Gan felt the path of cultivation was too arduous and not suited for her.
Yu Sui rarely saw Gu Gan so serious, so she casually appeased him, "If Senior Martial Brother is truly the kind of person you say he is, Brother Gu, I definitely won't get close to him, not even if he begs me."
Before Gu Gan could say anything more, Yu Sui's questions about his injury interrupted him one after another, gradually making him forget his concerns and instead revel in the satisfaction of being cared for by Yu Sui.
After Yu Sui sent Gu Gan away and closed her dormitory door, she turned around to find Li Jinshuang still standing at the entrance. Her expression was somber, but she looked somewhat tired, her brows and eyes weary.
Thinking about it, she had been training in the Military School all night. She had nowhere to sleep when she returned in the morning, likely returning to the Military School again. Who knew that tonight, upon returning, she would find Xiang Feifei still there and still unable to rest.
Yu Sui walked to her door and tilted her head, asking Li Jinshuang, "Do you want to sleep in my room?"
Li Jinshuang paused slightly, seemingly finding it hard to believe, and looked at Yu Sui with a frown.
Yu Sui added, "I'm not sleepy, you can sleep on the bed."
Finally, she supplemented, "Actually, my bed is quite large, enough for two people to sleep comfortably."
Li Jinshuang's expression turned slightly strange. She couldn't believe Yu Sui's words at all. For a moment, she even wondered if Yu Sui mistook her for a real man and was making an ambiguous invitation due to the outward appearance of "admiration."
As if sensing Li Jinshuang's strange, scrutinizing gaze, Yu Sui looked back curiously, "Is there something wrong with two girls sleeping together?"
Li Jinshuang froze, her brain feeling as if it had been struck by a heavy blow, causing a moment of dizziness.
Yu Sui pushed the door open and walked in, her tone laced with a half-smile, "Besides, not long ago you were holding my hand and calling me Mother."
Li Jinshuang: "..."
She straightened up and, without a word, followed Yu Sui into the room.
The door slammed shut with a sound that was neither too loud nor too soft.
Yu Sui walked to the table by her bed and sat down, leaning her upper body against her dressing table. The jewelry box she opened glittered, accentuating her fair skin and delicate bones.
Li Jinshuang stood by the door after entering, not moving.
Yu Sui gestured with her eyes towards the bed, "Rest. I can see you haven't had a good night's sleep in a long time. Even if you want to suppress your out-of-control sword spirit with all your might, you need to rest well to have the energy."
Li Jinshuang's body stiffened, as if her vital point had been grasped. She pursed her lips for a moment, her voice trembling almost imperceptibly as she asked, "How did you know?"
Yu Sui thought, I guessed right. Thanks to the clues provided by Senior Martial Brother.
She propped her head with her hand, looked up at Li Jinshuang, and spoke softly, yet her tone was clear, "I have a suggestion. Don't mind what Shu Chujun told you about the Saintess liking someone, and how I happen to be closely related to that person. You don't need to worry about such meaningless things."
Li Jinshuang looked at her in surprise, "You heard that?"
Yu Sui winked playfully, "Many people happen to say bad things about me when I'm around to hear them."
Li Jinshuang also felt that Yu Sui wasn't that kind of person. She still remembered the scene in the Asura Hell where Yu Sui, sword in one hand and Thunder Serpent in the other, repelled the Military Formation Evil Ghosts that had trapped her. However, she felt she didn't have the qualification to define others, so she chose to listen to Shu Chujun's advice, reduce contact, and maintain a 평범한 relationship.
Now that she heard Yu Sui say it herself, Li Jinshuang no longer went against her true feelings and asked in a low voice, "What is your suggestion?"
"The Yin-Yang and Five Elements Field of the Yin-Yang School allows for navigating the star map and initiating Military Formation trials. I've inquired, and there's no limit to the number of attempts. As long as the Yin-Yang and Five Elements Field is open, any disciple can navigate the star map and choose a Military Formation trial."
"Other disciples don't go because the Military Formations initiated through the star map are based on their own strength. Those who want to improve their cultivation realm will choose to challenge higher-level Military Formations."
Yu Sui said softly, "For example, the High-Level Military Formations initiated by the Thirteenth Realm Instructors. But such opportunities are rare. However, we can frequently initiate formations that are even more powerful than High-Level Military Formations—the Asura Hell."
Li Jinshuang's eyelids twitched upon hearing this. She felt Yu Sui was very bold and said in a low voice, "Because the star map initiation in the Yin-Yang and Five Elements Field is based on the disciple's strength, to withdraw from a Military Formation, one must either break the formation or wait for time to pass. If it's the Asura Hell, the level is too high, and it might even alarm the Black Armored Cavalry on the other side of the river..."
"The method to break the formation is the same as last time: destroy the Five Elements Power of the Military Formation. However, we'll need to call Xue Mushi as well," Yu Sui sighed. "I can't do it alone, and I also want to improve my realm. The Asura Hell is the best training ground for now."
The reason for going to the Asura Hell was to try and control the Heavenly Eye's ability to break Military Formations. Li Jinshuang, being a Military School Disciple, would definitely know more about Military Formations than her.
Yu Sui looked at Li Jinshuang, her gaze fixed on Li Jinshuang's silent eyes. "Because of the Asura Hell's special nature, even if your sword spirit goes out of control, there won't be any danger. Perhaps any evil ghost inside will suppress you."
"If the level is too low, it might not stimulate your sword spirit to go berserk. By the way, how did you control it last time?" Yu Sui asked curiously.
Li Jinshuang lowered her gaze and said slowly, "I can't control its appearance at will. The first time I entered the Asura Hell, I wanted to use my sword spirit, but it was unwilling to cooperate."
This was quite similar to her own unreliable Mystic Technique.
Yu Sui nodded, gesturing to Li Jinshuang with her eyes, "My suggestion is that we venture into the Asura Hell together again. You can conveniently control your sword spirit, and I can become proficient in Nine Schools Techniques. If you disagree, you can leave. If you agree, you can go to bed and sleep."
Li Jinshuang remained silent for a moment, avoiding Yu Sui's gaze, and quietly walked towards the bed.
Yu Sui leaned sideways, resting her arms on the table, and whispered, "Then tomorrow, we'll go find Xue Mushi and see what he thinks."
