Background / History

For over a decade, Yu Sui was known as a mediocre Qingyang County Princess and a Normal Practitioner. Her apparent lack of talent made others dismiss her as slow, timid, and incapable; her talent compatibility was measured at only ten percent. She deliberately maintained this harmless image while studying at the Imperial Academy, where she learned archery, horseback riding, and swordsmanship from her elder brothers. 7 8 15 99 126

Her inability to cultivate was caused by the half of the Primordial Soil inside her. The Primordial Soil competed with her for Five Elements Qi, preventing her from learning the Nine Schools Techniques. Because Nangong Ming could eventually return the Primordial Soil to Lady Su, Yu Sui considered gaining strength and knowledge before that happened essential to her survival. 23 110

At Taiyi Academy, Sage Chang Gen accepted her as a personal disciple of the Ghost Dao School. After Yu Sui sought his help, he revealed her Divine Mechanism, Heavenly Eye, and sealed the Primordial Soil’s power lineage with a Bagua diagram. This allowed her to cultivate her first Five Elements Light Core and begin formally learning Nine Schools Techniques. 18 23 24

Yu Sui later became involved in conflicts surrounding the Futuo Tower Fragments, Xuan Kui, Lan Poison, and the World Destroyers. She concealed much of her strength, cultivated techniques from multiple schools, and built alliances while investigating the forces connected to her family. 109 118 125 223

Personality

Yu Sui presents herself differently depending on her circumstances. To those who underestimate her, she appears gentle, obedient, timid, or naïve; this persona is rooted in the reputation she cultivated while unable to protect herself. Behind it, she is observant, calculating, and willing to manipulate opponents, conceal information, and use others’ assumptions against them. 44 180 306

She is intensely driven to cultivate. Having spent most of her life unable to use the Nine Schools Techniques, she finds security and satisfaction in learning new skills, repeatedly pushing herself through painful training, dangerous formations, and near-death situations. 42 70 217 296

Yu Sui is also protective of people she considers her own. She supports Li Jinshuang, asks Wan Qi to rescue Sheng Zui, rewards Black Beard’s loyalty, and seeks ways to protect Mei Liangyu even when doing so places her at risk. 22 109 318 377
