History

Qingfeng Temple began as a remote gray-white Daoist temple with a circular outer wall. Despite its religious appearance, its main hall housed a damaged, headless god statue with no offerings, revealing it to be a martial arts hall operating behind a temple façade. Its original hierarchy placed Daoist Baohe at the top, assisted by Ming Chen, Mingde, and Ming Xiu, who rotated responsibility for logistics, teaching, and outside affairs. 5

The temple's curriculum centered on fast sword arts and body tempering. It admitted students for tuition, while its Shixing Root garden helped fund operations. Lin Hui joined through his father Lin Shunhe's relationship with Daoist Mingde and was guided through the temple by Huishen. 5

Its decline began when Song Zhanlong publicly defeated Daoist Baohe during the New Year tournament. Baohe's serious injury drove disciples to stronger schools, especially Black Dragon Gate; within little more than a month, roughly a third had departed, and eventually only a fifth of the original membership remained. 30 32 After Baohe died, the three remaining managers divided the grounds. Ming Chen and Ming Xiu founded Fast Sword Gate and Wind Sword Gate, while Mingde alone retained the Qingfeng Temple name. 36 47

Mingde's branch survived by running health-preservation sword classes for elderly trainees. Lin Hui, Wei Wei, Xiao Hu, and Little Fat maintained instruction while the former temple's prestige appeared finished. Lin Hui nevertheless chose to remain, valuing the school’s exceptional movement techniques and intending to improve its sword arts rather than abandon it. 39 53 59

Lin Hui restored the organization’s standing through martial victories, the absorption of Black Dragon Gate, and the merger of Xue Meng's Intent Blade Sect. Qingfeng Temple subsequently expanded its recruitment, fielded expedition teams, developed branches across surrounding towns, and became a leading Outer City force. 71 89 104 168

The Nine Heavens Gate sect template transformed the organization further. Its Dharma Seal system rewarded genuine members with direct physical and spiritual enhancements while exposing infiltrators unable to sincerely acknowledge the sect. After the organization became Qingfeng Sect, it expanded beyond Tuyue, established itself in Black Cloud City, and raised Clear Jade Mountain as its independent floating territory. 203 209 210 217 299
