Background / History

Ghostface Clan origins

Xia Si was originally the Ghostface Clan leader of Miyin Village. Her village was destroyed by Lin Hui, and she had previously been killed and regenerated several times after encountering a passing powerful figure. The repeated deaths caused a severe mental injury, leaving her with memory loss and confused self-perception. She came to believe that she was a human child born to parents who had died two years earlier; under this identity, she renamed herself from Xia Shishi to Xia Si. 198 216

Living alone in a burrow within the Mist Zone, she survived by hunting monsters, preserving food, and avoiding danger with a movement method she developed by studying monsters. 198 199

Disciple of Qingfeng Temple

Xia Si met Lin Hui near an Indestructible White Wooden Door in the Mist Zone. Her knowledge of the region and her unusual survival abilities drew his attention, and he accepted her as his personal disciple before formally registering her at Qingfeng Temple. 198 200

Her progress was immediate and abnormal. Within a year, she surpassed every other member of Qingfeng Temple, took the most dangerous escort assignments in accumulated fog zones, and became both respected and feared by her fellow disciples. 201

During the Floating Mountain Sect’s attack, Xia Si revealed her nonhuman nature and defeated a Greater Triple Harmony Grandmaster. Her victory exposed her as an exceptionally young Great God Official-level combatant, attracting the attention of major powers. 210 212 215

Yugong and the awakening of Ash

At Liu Wujun’s invitation, Xia Si joined Yugong while retaining her position as Lin Hui’s personal disciple. Lin Hui subsequently appraised her with the Blood Seal, learning her true Ghostface Clan identity, and granted her the Zhengti Yinfa. 216

As she attempted to study Typhoon Swordplay, an unfamiliar force began emerging within her body and mind. This power brought increasingly intense impulses toward destruction. Lin Hui later identified it as Ash, a polluting extraterrestrial power akin to Purgatory and Extreme Cold. 262 281

Her Ash power rapidly elevated her strength, but it also destabilized her. During a sea battle, she nearly lost control as an Ash Fissure and White Wooden Door manifestation emerged behind her; Lin Hui sealed her power after defeating her. 263

Rebellion and departure

After recovering portions of her former nature and memories, Xia Si remained recognized by Qingfeng Sect’s seals as a disciple, but increasingly coveted Lin Hui’s position and resisted returning to the sect. She sought external resources through Crystal Exchange Island, fought former allies, and was pursued after killing members of the He Xin Association. 277 278 281

When Su Yaping and Yun Xiazi attempted to bring her back, Xia Si escaped their pursuit with assistance from Mingxin Sect figures. Lin Hui ultimately intercepted and defeated her, triggering the trauma of watching her clan’s destruction and rendering her unconscious. 289 290 292

She later spent years traveling the outer seas, then joined the Heavenly Heart Gang in Tianchong City. By then, her temperament had become noticeably more mature and less openly violent. 337 342 344

Clear Jade Mountain

Three hundred years after Lin Hui’s departure from the Mist Man World, Xia Si remained at Clear Jade Mountain alongside Su Yaping and Yun Xiazi. She had become the mountain’s master and no longer held resentment toward Lin Hui. 474

After reuniting with Lin Hui, she joined investigations into the Black Disaster’s mutations across collapsing regions. Having fully replaced Ashes’ influence with wind energy, she became more stable while retaining her fierce disposition. 567

Appearance

Xia Si first appeared as a small child, only reaching Lin Hui’s thigh, but her growth accelerated after gaining access to proper food and cultivation. Within a year, she had grown to around 1.45 meters and developed the appearance of a young girl, though her calm smile and lack of reaction to killing often unsettled others. 198 206

  • Long black hair, silver-gray eyes, and a cold, beautiful face in her later years. 280
  • Often wears dark or gray-white clothing and carries a slender black sword marked with a faint “Wind” character. 262 280
  • Her Zhengti Yinfa transformation produces a five-meter-tall, muscular gray-white humanoid body with spiked hair and heat billowing from her breath. 216
  • When her hidden nature emerged during battle, her skin split to release grayish-white, bone-like mucus. 210
  • In later life, her bearing and appearance became strikingly similar to Song Feishi’s. 474

Personality

Xia Si is exceptionally self-reliant. Her years surviving alone in the Mist Zone made her practical, fearless, and accustomed to handling threats without help. She eagerly accepted Lin Hui as her teacher and initially measured success by completing his assignments. 198 199 206

Her outward demeanor is usually peaceful, warm, and unhurried—even immediately after killing enemies. This emotional stillness, combined with her extreme violence in combat, made many Qingfeng Temple disciples view her as frighteningly abnormal. 206 212

After her Ghostface Clan memories and Ash power resurfaced, she developed a stronger obsession with power, independence, and surpassing Lin Hui. Although this led to rebellion and destructive impulses, she later matured, abandoned her grudge against her teacher, and continued pursuing strength on her own terms. 262 277 474 570

Abilities & Skills

Swordsmanship

Xia Si possesses extraordinary comprehension and learns sword techniques at an abnormal rate.

  • Mastered the Perfect Seven Section Fast Sword, Perfect Nine Section Fast Sword, Perfect Clear Sword Technique, and modified Raging Wind Swordplay. 216
  • Learned the Whirlwind Sword and used its sword net to cut through the Floating Mountain Sect’s giant mountain technique. 201 212
  • Her Raging Wind Swordplay grows stronger and faster as combat intensifies, creating tornado-like pressure around her attacks. 210
  • Lin Hui considers her sword techniques fully readable due to being her teacher; this proved fatal when he evaded her full-power Ash-enhanced assault. 292

Monster-derived movement technique

Xia Si developed a unique movement method by observing the breathing and motions of Mist Zone monsters.

  • Enters a comfortable, focused mental state by copying monster breathing. 199
  • Can leap toward a chosen destination with extreme, difficult-to-predict mobility. 199 201
  • Her escape speed later exceeded her already formidable previous combat speed by at least half again. 290

Innate physique and Ghostface true body

Even before formal cultivation, Xia Si possessed extreme durability and physical power.

  • Shattered a stone wall with her forehead without injury. 199
  • Claimed to have fought a Mist Zone monster hand-to-hand to a draw at age five. 199
  • The Zhengti Yinfa enhances her whole physique by fifty percent and can trigger a massive gray-white humanoid transformation. 216
  • Her natural strength, speed, and durability enabled her to survive in the Outer Fog Zone long before meeting Lin Hui. 215

Ash power

Ash is Xia Si’s original polluting power and the source of her rapid, dangerous growth.

  • Can manifest as golden light, a colossal vortex, and a massive golden sword. 292
  • Corrodes even Lin Hui’s Disaster Energy. 263
  • Can form an Ash Fissure associated with a White Wooden Door and black-and-white human faces. 263
  • Intensifies destructive urges and can drive her toward loss of control. 262 263
  • Was ultimately replaced by wind energy, freeing her from Ashes’ influence. 567

Regeneration and materialization

Xia Si’s high-level reconstruction ability lets her overcome effects that would permanently weaken most combatants.

  • Xue Shi’s Nine Lives Nine Deaths repeatedly stripped away her power after every kill. 569
  • After her body fell to one-tenth of its original physical capability, she detonated herself and reconstructed a new body at full strength. 569
  • This reconstruction is identified as a capability of a materialization-level expert. 569

Wind energy

After separating from Ash, Xia Si wielded Lin Hui’s wind energy directly.

  • Her wind energy destroys black matter attempting to regenerate an evil ghost. 567
  • The conversion greatly increased both her combat strength and mental stability. 567
  • She can summon a colossal blue tornado with a spoken command of “Wind.” 569

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Black longsword — Her usual weapon while serving as Black Cloud’s Black Army Deputy Commander. 262
  • Wind-marked slender sword — A black sword with a faint “Wind” character on its hilt. 280
