"Are you okay? Does it hurt a lot? You've had painkillers, and the doctor said you can't keep taking them." Guo Yujie said in a fluster.
I didn't answer or ask that question again.
My memories hadn't been altered, but I wasn't sure what had really changed in the past. I couldn't be sure whether what I'd heard while my soul was out of my body was true, or who had said it.
Maybe... this was fine, more or less.
I thought weakly.
Most people simply drifted through life in a daze. They studied, worked, started families, cared for their children and supported their elders, and before they knew it, their lives were over.
Even if I'd seen the truth of the world, I was powerless to change anything. If my attempt to stop it had failed, then perhaps this was where it ended. Giving up now couldn't exactly be called a mistake.
I felt a tissue brush the corner of my eye.
"Are you all right?" Guo Yujie asked cautiously.
I still didn't answer.
I just felt as if all my energy and vitality had been hollowed out.
Those painful memories had filled the void inside me.
I kept remembering their deaths. I couldn't control my thoughts, and my feelings grew more and more numb.
"Did you ask about Greenleaf just now? That house with the missing people?" Guo Yujie asked tentatively.
I slowly shifted my eyes toward her.
"Uh, Xiao Qiu said that before you passed out, you were saying you wanted to find Greenleaf, or was it Ye Qing..." Guo Yujie thought for a moment, then let it go and looked at me in confusion. "What happened there? Did you find something out? Do you know where they are?"
My heart sank.
They really didn't know Greenleaf
