"We're here. This is my home," the bearded goblin said, pointing at the house before them.
Like the other buildings in the goblin village, the house was decorated in gold and silver tones. Even the bricks in its walls were dark gold.
However, they contained no actual gold or silver. They merely looked that way. Goblins' nature prevented them from extravagantly using precious metals as building materials; they preferred collecting them to using them.
"Old man!" After opening the door, the bearded goblin shouted inside, "Someone's here to see you!"
This bearded goblin certainly had character, calling his own father old man.
"Too noisy! I'm not seeing anyone!" an irritable voice called from inside the house.
Matthew and Luna exchanged looks. It seemed the bearded goblin's father had even more character than he did.
The bearded goblin hurried into the house, and Matthew and Luna silently followed behind him.
Once inside, the bearded goblin headed straight for the room on the right. "They were recommended by Dumbledore—students from Hogwarts."
"Dumbledore?" A goblin with white hair and a white beard emerged from the room. He wore gold-rimmed glasses, and his face was expressionless.
Matthew took out Dumbledore's letter and handed it to the white-bearded goblin. "Mr. Bask As'ha, I'm Matthew Black. This is the letter Dumbledore asked me to give you."
The white-bearded goblin read through the letter. "It seems Dumbledore has found another promising young talent. The spirit of magic truly favors humans."
"A member of the Black family, huh? They've seemed rather rare these past dozen years." The white-bearded goblin adjusted his glasses and gave Matthew a careful look.
Of course they were rare. The heirs had all gone to Azkaban. At present, Matthew was the only Black still active in the Wizarding World.
