Background / History

Lein is a transmigrator who arrived in the Chaos World with modern scientific knowledge and initially found a world filled with monsters, demons, and devils but lacking firearms and functioning magic. His first disciple, Downs Don Quixote, sold his family’s heirloom armor to fund an apprenticeship; Lein accepted him despite initially intending to stop teaching once Downs became a Formal Mage 1 8.

The discovery of the “Never Tire of Teaching” system changed Lein’s approach. The system lets him share the talents and later the exceptional attributes of disciples whose potential he helps surpass. Recognizing Downs’s extraordinary aptitude, Lein committed himself to cultivating disciples as a route to his own strength 13 19 219.

Lein built the Physics School around magic education, physics, and the Physical Network. His early feats—including annihilating a demon brigade with an amplified Light of Heaven—made him infamous across the Chaos World, even as he worried that his reputation exceeded his actual capabilities 31 77.

His influence expanded from training mages to building a large sect, establishing Tesla Magic Academy, forming partnerships with the Dwarves and major human factions, and distributing physics-based technology such as electric lighting, watermills, and steam-engine components 179 250 297 384 386. After the Dwarf ancestors blessed him, all Dwarf clans recognized him as an eternal ally so long as he did not violate their shared interests 297.

Following his ascension, Lein became a central divine figure in the conflict between Order and Chaos. He intercepts and refines Power of Faith, negotiates with hostile gods, and prepares his disciples for godhood and war against the Chaos Army 549 550 609.

Appearance

Lein generally presents himself as a robed archmage, though his physical attributes increasingly contradict the conventional image of a frail mage.

  • Wears mage robes, which conceal his unusually strong physique 297.
  • Possesses a notably long reach and enough physical ability to restrain the highly agile Knight Margaret during a dance without using skills 291.
  • His aura changed markedly after gaining Legendary Physique, to the point that Margaret felt her perception of him had been surpassed 297.
  • At Legendary rank, his documented basic attributes were Strength 24, Agility 19, Physique 23, Intelligence 52, Perception 30, and Charm 33 427.

Personality

Lein is pragmatic, strategically minded, and deeply concerned with preserving his independence. He maintains a Lawful Neutral public stance because he believes it is necessary for the Physics School’s stability; this also allows him to avoid being compelled into every conflict involving Good-aligned factions 108 221.

He often projects calm confidence while privately worrying that others will discover the gap between his reputation and his circumstances. His repeated displays of power, teaching style, and political maneuvering nevertheless turn that perceived strength into real influence 77 203 260.

As a teacher, Lein is demanding but protective. He pushes disciples to develop independently, warns them against overexertion, and uses their growth as both a personal source of pride and the foundation of his faction 22 194 316. He repays allies who support him, notably the Iron Hand Clan and the Tailin Knight Order 340.

Abilities & Skills

Physics-Based Magic

Lein integrates scientific principles with the Chaos World’s magic system, using physics to improve spell effects and develop new technology.

  • Amplified Light of Heaven with a convex lens and academy-area bonuses to reach approximately seventh-ring power against demons 31.
  • Created electric lighting without trial and error through prior knowledge 194.
  • Promoted water-powered electricity, mills, hydraulic forging hammers, standardized mining tools, and steam-engine production 384 386.
  • Establishes Physics schools to spread physics knowledge throughout Marino 443.

Master–Disciple System

Lein’s system rewards him for raising disciples beyond their destined limits.

  • Has no stated limit on the number of qualifying disciples 13.
  • Shares top-tier disciple talents without limit 13.
  • Can use the highest relevant attribute among his disciples for checks through Order’s Gift 219.
  • Receives major benefits when disciples advance, including magical specializations, general feats, and increases to his own attributes 310 351 480.

Eye of All Laws

The Eye of All Laws identifies enemy techniques and helps Lein gain resistance or immunity against them.

  • Recognizes enemy moves, spells, and techniques 316.
  • Can trigger Guidance when disciples are nearby, creating a “Teaching Bureau” in which enemy attacks are likely to miss and repeated Will checks can inflict chaos, sluggishness, or numbness 316.
  • Depends on Lein correctly recognizing the opposing ability; unfamiliar spells can end the effect 316.

Mirror Image and the Law of Reflection

Lein’s Level 3 Devil Magic Mirror Image became a World-Class Law-Based Devil Magic after the Chaos World recognized the Law of Reflection.

  • Reflected the attacks and mental control effects of sixteen Eye Demons using Wall of the Devil’s Eye 72.
  • Turned the reflected magic against the Eye Demons, causing them to attack one another and lose self-awareness 72.
  • May have killed two Archdevils, though the system’s notifications were unclear 76.

Legendary Magic

After Downs became a Legendary Archmage, Lein gained access to Level 7 magic and the combat capability of a standard Legendary Mage.

  • Opens the Level 7 magic list 310.
  • Can use Necromancy, though Good-aligned variants may be weakened or altered by his alignment 315.
  • Can cast neutral spells such as Death Finger, which can instantly kill targets that fail a Toughness check 315.
  • Is immune to magic and spell-like abilities below Legendary level unless he chooses otherwise 315.

Mobile Domain

Lein possesses a mobile domain extending 300 meters around him.

  • Allows him to retain buffs outside the academy 315.
  • His subordinates later speculate that this Domain is a sign of godhood 334.

Divine Power and Physics Divine Offices

As a deity, Lein uses physics laws as a source of divine authority.

  • Can switch Divine Offices among branches of physics, including Mechanics, Electricity, and Thermodynamics 531.
  • Uses law priority to dominate equivalent electrical phenomena through Ampere’s Little Blackboard 583.
  • Physics laws surrounding him can retaliate against hostile intent through mechanics, electricity, gravity, and thermodynamics 533.
  • Secretly intercepts and refines Power of Faith while avoiding openly seizing believers from other gods 550.

Trivia

  • Lein initially viewed Downs’s apprenticeship fee as inadequate for continuing to teach a future High-Level Mage, before realizing the value of the master–disciple system 8 13.
  • Despite being known as a mage, Lein’s physical abilities allow him to overwhelm Legendary and Master-level martial professionals in contests of strength and agility 281 291.
  • He is publicly perceived as far more powerful and prepared than he believes himself to be, a misconception he frequently reinforces through deliberate composure and accidental achievements 260 382 550.
  • Lein’s title as Giant Dragon Nemesis is not broadly condemned by Good-aligned dragons because every dragon he had slain by that point was Evil-aligned 335.
