Background

Rosalia lived in a village near the Undead Mountain Range, where she was impoverished, malnourished, and repeatedly abused by Lainer. Wearing a drab hooded robe, she conducted an undead ritual in her home and revived Su Liya’s skeletal body. When Lainer discovered the skeleton, Rosalia surrendered her food and savings to protect it, then carried the skeleton through the rain to the Forest of Death and promised to find a way to resurrect her friend fully. 1

After Lainer resumed threatening her, Rosalia hid in her cellar and watched him destroy her home. She attempted to learn magic from a black book, but the incantations repeatedly failed and left her drained. Rather than remain vulnerable, she packed her remaining supplies and fled the village. 11

Cornered by Lainer in Twilight Town, Rosalia cut her wrist and used her blood, remaining mana, and life force to complete a summoning circle. This successfully called Su Liya to her side. After Su Liya defeated Lainer and gave Rosalia his knife, Rosalia killed her abuser herself, ending the fear that had controlled her life. 19 20

Before Su Liya’s summoning duration ended, Rosalia requested an equal contract. The contract linked their magic power as partners, and Rosalia entrusted Su Liya with the Valkyrie Ring. She then vowed to find a way to bring Su Liya back, regardless of whether it required dealing with demons or entering hell. 20 21

Rosalia later sought instruction from the reclusive mage Karonna. Though Karonna initially dismissed her account because Rosalia’s book was a cheap fake filled with nonsensical spells, Rosalia proved herself by summoning Pipi Axe through her connection to Su Liya. Karonna accepted her as an apprentice and promised to teach her all of her necromantic knowledge. 28 30

Rosalia is initially depicted as a frail, dirt-covered girl in a drab hooded robe, with malnutrition and fear evident in her condition. Later, she is described as purple-haired and wears a mage robe while studying under Karonna. 1 30 34

Personality

Rosalia is compassionate and protective. Despite having little food or security herself, she protected Su Liya’s skeleton from Lainer and risked punishment by taking it out of the village. Her original goal in studying necromancy is not authority or destruction, but restoring her friend. 1 30

Her early fear gradually gives way to resolve. She leaves home rather than submit to Lainer, summons Su Liya at the cost of her own blood, kills Lainer after being given the chance to do so, and accepts Karonna’s demanding training without hesitation. 11 19 20 30

Rosalia is also deeply affectionate toward Su Liya. She becomes insecure when she believes Su Liya is giving Valentine’s chocolates to numerous lovers, and she is easily overwhelmed by intimate moments with her, including fainting while learning to make dumplings together. 29 34
