Chapter 7: Shirou's Got Some Skills

The attacking enemy was Berserker, a mad warrior.

Shirou looked at the somewhat dark-skinned, slightly taller and more powerfully built man before him. Like Shirou, he wielded a massive Axe Sword.

God Slayer of Hundred Beasts was originally a technique Heracles created to destroy the nine-headed Hydra. Later, when wielding a greatsword, he used the same technique and brought this attack method to its peak.

What they held were bow-shaped Axe Swords, also bearing that name, and they could likewise be used to perform that technique.

The difference was that although the Berserker before him possessed such a weapon, he could not use it, having lost his reason to Mad Enhancement.

Berserker Heracles was indeed immensely powerful—the strongest Servant among those participating in the Fifth Holy Grail War, aside from Gilgamesh!

Like an ordinary Holy Grail War, the price of summoning a Berserker was the loss of reason. When using a card to summon Berserker, the time he could retain his sanity was only ten minutes.

Would dragging this into a battle of endurance guarantee an advantage?

"Wryyyyyy..."

"Senpai!" Sakura hurried out as well, intending to use Rider's card to provide support.

"Sakura, just transform first. Don't support me—be on guard against any accidents!" Shirou shouted without hesitation. If this was a deliberate move by the enemy, then while the two of them dealt with Berserker, they would suffer a serious blow as long as one more combatant joined in. Leaving Sakura behind would prevent that from happening.

Facing the enemy before him squarely, Shirou understood that this man had already lost his mind. There was no need to consider the ten-minute limit—he had been completely turned into a tool by Einzbern to deal with Shirou.

Berserker raised his Axe Sword and smashed it down at Shirou. Shirou hurriedly caught it with God Slayer of Hundred Beasts, but immediately felt his body sink as his feet actually plunged into the ground.

There was no need to mention his arms. He even felt as though his hands had gone numb!

Though he was a weakened Servant, Berserker was still Berserker. His strength remained monstrously powerful.

And Berserker's next strike was already coming!

Shirou immediately leaped aside. The place where he had stood was smashed into a huge crater.

Well, if they kept fighting like this, his house was going to be wrecked. Even if he won, he would have nowhere to live. If only this had happened at night—at least then he would definitely have run outside and avoided involving his home.

This Holy Grail War had already become utterly lawless. They could fight even in broad daylight?

Then again, ever since the explosion five years ago, hardly anyone lived in Fuyuki City anymore, especially around here.

Taking a deep breath, Shirou decided to lure the enemy away. He could not fight on his doorstep, lest he smash his household belongings. If they were broken, he really would have nowhere to live!

He jumped out of his home and ran outside. Berserker did not disappoint him and followed. That way, no matter what damage was done outside, they could just blame it on a gas cylinder explosion.

Could the destruction caused by a Holy Grail War even be called destruction? It was called a gas cylinder explosion! Even that enormous blast in central Fuyuki could be blamed on an explosion in the underground gas lines. What else could Shirou Emiya say?

Having lured the enemy out, the next issue was how to deal with him.

Heracles, the strongest warrior in Greek mythology. If he had been summoned not as a Berserker but as a Saber or Archer, Shirou would have had no confidence in this fight. But against Berserker, there was still a chance.

Even Heracles summoned as a Berserker had few Servants capable of standing against him. Twelve Labors alone could wear down countless enemies who wished to fight him to death.

Without an attack of at least B-rank, one could not pierce Heracles's armor. And after dying to a particular attack, his next resurrection would grant him extremely strong resistance to it.

Who carried that many Noble Phantasms these days? Not everyone was Golden Flash. Even the Heroic Spirit Emiya, who could project countless Noble Phantasms, had only barely managed to kill Heracles six times.
