Background
Chu Yuan is a transmigrator who arrived in the Perfect World setting and spent a million years cultivating until he possessed the power to protect himself. Knowing of the four dark Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperors and the Corpse Immortal Emperor beyond the World Sea, he initially intends to wait until reaching the Immortal Emperor realm before personally quelling the coming dark turmoil 1.
He is the Ancient Ancestor of the Immortal King Chu Family. Thirty thousand years before the Mysterious Land broadcast, he overruled opposition from other Immortal Kings and enabled the Chu Clan to open a passage into the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands, where the clan established influence and a headquarters guarded by a True Immortal 2.
Despite his actual strength, Chu Yuan conceals himself as an Emperor Light Immortal King to avoid attracting attention. His clan head, Chu Yang—an eighth-generation descendant of Chu Yuan's elder brother—pressures him to produce direct Immortal King bloodline heirs for the sake of the family's succession 1.
Appearance
Chu Yuan's manifestations are usually imposing rather than ostentatious. One Past Incarnation appears as a handsome man in a black robe that carries extraordinary majesty and immense pressure, while another is explicitly described as having a face identical to Chu Yuan's 41 118.
- His true form is surrounded by special mist and an aura of Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperor power capable of illuminating eternity and separating time 1.
- His Past Incarnations can appear without any detectable aura, resembling ordinary people despite their overwhelming power 135.
- His black-robed incarnation at the Imperial Pass has the same face as his main body 118.
Personality
Chu Yuan is calculating, ambitious, and intensely self-reliant. Although he initially treats Emperor Huang as a safeguard against the future darkness, the possibility that Shi Hao's fate has changed leads him to abandon reliance on that contingency and commit to defeating the dark emperors, the Corpse Emperor, the eerie race, and the Plateau through his own strength 73.
He is candidly unwilling to make sacrifices without benefit. The cultivation methods he gives others are designed to build their favor toward him, permit him to monitor and suppress them, and return part of their cultivation to him; he explicitly rejects the idea of being a self-sacrificing saint 61.
In battle, Chu Yuan is calm, contemptuous of weaker opponents, and fond of taunting enemies. His Past Incarnations repeatedly introduce themselves to opponents as “Father” before humiliating or defeating them 118 122 123.
Abilities & Skills
Primordial Immortal Dao System
Chu Yuan has independently deduced a cultivation system based on the Primordial era. His current route requires the accumulation of magical power and comprehension of Great Dao laws until the final leap to Primordial Great Luo Golden Immortality 1 47.
- He condensed a Primordial Dao Fruit and reached the Primordial Golden Immortal, or Quasi-Saint, level 1.
- He believes his system will allow him to surpass ordinary Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperors and eventually suppress even the Corpse Emperor 89.
- He considers creating an original cultivation system a necessary prerequisite for an Immortal King to advance to Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperor 123.
Heaven-Defying Comprehension
Chu Yuan's greatest asset is an extraordinary comprehension that allows him to rapidly learn, alter, and create cultivation methods 48.
- He can theoretically deduce a method with any effect he can conceive, though creating one from nothing is taxing 61.
- This comprehension enabled his unique Three Corpses system and the cultivation methods distributed to selected followers 48 61.
Technique of Severing the Three Corpses
Chu Yuan's personal Three Corpses technique differs fundamentally from Hongjun's traditional version. It divides him into Past, Future, and Present aspects rather than good, evil, and self 47 48.
- Past Corpse — embodies all of his past. If destroyed, it can be drawn anew from an endless altered past while Chu Yuan remains alive 48.
- Future Corpse — embodies his future aspirations; it is theoretically immortal but can be erased by an Immortal Emperor 48.
- Present Corpse — connects Past and Future, serving as his Dao, Dharma, and the core of the system 48.
- Severing the Future Incarnation raises his main body's cultivation to the peak Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperor level 135.
External Incarnation
Chu Yuan can create incarnations by using an Immortal artifact as a vessel, imprinting it with his Dao and laws, and placing part of his primordial spirit within it 104.
- These incarnations possess self-awareness and are considered another “him,” rather than ordinary projections or secondary bodies 104.
- A Past Incarnation in the Void God Realm retains the strength of a Peerless Immortal King Titan despite Chu Yuan's true body being a Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperor 89.
- Multiple Past Incarnations act independently at the Immortal Domain gates and the Imperial Pass 103 118.
Cultivation Methods Created for Others
Methods authored by Chu Yuan carry four inherent effects for their practitioners 61.
- They naturally increase the practitioner's favorability toward Chu Yuan.
- Chu Yuan can absolutely suppress a practitioner who becomes hostile, even if that practitioner reaches the Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperor realm.
- He can sense a practitioner's condition, location, and actions at any time.
- A portion of a practitioner's cultivation gains is transmitted to Chu Yuan without loss.
- The drawback is backlash when a practitioner dies; the severity rises with that practitioner's realm 61.
Overwhelming Combat Power
Chu Yuan's incarnations routinely defeat Immortal King Titans and Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperor-level threats with casual physical attacks.
- He defeats Wu Shang, whose body possesses immunity to laws and magic, with a single finger flick 105.
- He destroys manifestations of the Origin Ancient Artifact with ordinary punches and later crushes its most powerful black shadow in his hand 108 130.
- He shatters An Lan's Crimson Spear barehanded, breaks An Lan and Yu Tuo's Immortal King Dharma Bodies with one punch, and captures them effortlessly 119 121 122.
- He annihilates the Blade King's final “Slay the Emperor” strike and kills him with a single ordinary punch 127.
- His true body shatters Hong Emperor's imperial might across the World Sea and strikes the Ultimate Ancient Land 133.
Equipment / Items
- Imperial Edict — used to isolate himself and the Lord of the Forbidden Zone from outside observation during their private discussion 42.
- Origin Ancient Artifact — seized from Kundi after defeating the Other Realm's Immortal Kings; Chu Yuan later considers how it should be handled 130 133.
- Immortal artifact vessels — used as the foundations of his External Incarnations 104.
Relationships
- Chu Yang — Chu Clan head and an eighth-generation descendant of Chu Yuan's elder brother; he manages clan affairs and urges Chu Yuan to produce direct heirs 1.
- Chu Xi — Chu Clan child prodigy who seeks a Dao Companion for Chu Yuan and regards being favored by him as an immense opportunity 36.
- Yun Xi — potential Dao Companion candidate sought by Chu Xi for Chu Yuan; she is brought from Heavenly God Mountain against her expectations 36 46.
- Willow Deity — an old acquaintance by reputation rather than from the Immortal Ancient era. Chu Yuan's Past Incarnation trades Kundi's true blood for the Godly Guidance Chapter of the Primal True Understanding and assists her recovery 73 81.
- Shi Hao / Emperor Huang — a crucial prospective safeguard against the darkness whose altered fate prompts Chu Yuan to become more self-reliant; Chu Yuan tries to avoid disrupting his path to emperorship 61 73.
- Shi Yi — cultivates one of Chu Yuan's methods, making him subject to its favorability, monitoring, suppression, and cultivation-transfer effects 61.
- Qi Yu — Peerless Immortal King Titan who guards Chu Yuan's breakthrough and later supports him against the Other Realm; he is stunned to learn that Chu Yuan and the newly revealed Emperor are the same person 82 105 133.
- Kundi — Other Realm Immortal King and recurring enemy previously defeated by Chu Yuan; Chu Yuan kills him after taking the Origin Ancient Artifact 103 130 133.
- An Lan and Yu Tuo — Other Realm Immortal Kings humiliated and decisively defeated by Chu Yuan's Past Incarnation at the Imperial Pass 119 122.
- Blade King — Peerless Immortal King Titan slain after his Nine Styles of Immortal Burial fail against Chu Yuan's Past Incarnation 123 127.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Chu Clan Ancient Ancestor
At the beginning of the story, Chu Yuan remains in the Chu Family ancestral land while hiding his Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperor cultivation. His immediate conflict is not an external enemy but Chu Yang's demand that he preserve the direct Immortal King bloodline through marriage and heirs 1.
Securing the Future Against Darkness
After noticing deviations in Shi Hao's destined path, Chu Yuan concludes that Emperor Huang may never emerge as the final safeguard against the darkness. He responds by committing to perfecting his own Primordial cultivation system and seeking knowledge from the Primal True Understanding, including through a bargain with the Willow Deity 61 73.
War with the Other Realm
Chu Yuan's Past Incarnations confront Kundi, Wu Shang, and the Other Realm's Immortal Kings at the gates of the Immortal Domain. They defeat Wu Shang, neutralize the Origin Ancient Artifact, take its core artifact, and force surviving Other Realm Immortal Kings to choose between service and death 105 108 130.
At the Imperial Pass, another Past Incarnation prevents Meng Tianzheng's suicide attack and single-handedly overwhelms An Lan, Yu Tuo, and the Blade King, protecting the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands from the Other Realm's offensive 118 121 127.
Revelation and Further Ascension
Chu Yuan's true body openly confronts Hong Emperor across the World Sea, demonstrating that the Emperor-level presence detected within the Immortal Domain is also himself. Soon afterward, he severs the Future Incarnation, placing his main body at the peak of the Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperor realm 133 135.
Notable Quotes
“Relying on others is not as good as relying on oneself. Since that's the case, then let me do it myself!” 73
“What are the Dark Four Emperors to me? It won't be long before you are nothing more than stepping stones on my path forward!” 133
“That was also me.” 133
Trivia
- Chu Yuan's Past Incarnations repeatedly use “Ba Ba” (“Father”) as a false name when confronting An Lan, Yu Tuo, and the Blade King 118 122 123.
- Although he has reached peak Quasi-@@REF_ENTITY_11277534@@ Emperor, Chu Yuan considers the gap between that realm and Immortal Emperor impossible to bridge through numbers alone 135.
