Origins and Demon Nests
Heavenly Demons enter the human world through Demon Nests, regions where the Heavenly Demon Realm intersects with it. Great Chu originally understood that realm as the world's “dark side.” Its later account describes a world-devouring conglomerate that assimilates other worlds and steals their energy; it began encroaching on Blue Star roughly a thousand years ago 9 459.
Their ultimate origins remain unresolved. Humans can transform into true Heavenly Demons through Demonic Path incantations and borrowed power, but the theory that demons found in nests were once human has not been confirmed 184.

- Great Chu's Steel Bone Generation III gauntlets let their wearer's hands pass through a lower-rank demon's force field; that function is limited to lower-rank targets 92.
- Demon-Subduing Weapons can harm demons, but earlier designs carried a risk of spiritual contamination. Steel Bone instead uses a demon's body under technological control and tested without that contamination risk 147.
