Background / History

Choosing a successor

After the Destruction God King exposed Asura God’s interference on Douluo Continent, the Goddess of Life temporarily took over the God Realm Central’s law-enforcement authority. While monitoring its 108 Life Planets, she discovered that Ye Liangchen had awakened a martial soul bearing her appearance and divine aura—despite her never bestowing it upon him 6.

Rather than harm the child, she chose him as a potential successor. She also considered his mysterious sword martial soul a possible vessel for her husband’s Destruction Divine Power. Passing down their positions offered the couple a way to leave the God Realm, which she had come to regard as a cage 6.

Inheritance and protection

When twelve-year-old Ye Liangchen reached level 50, Life and Destruction summoned his soul to meet them. They proposed passing their positions to him if he reached rank 99 within fifty years. She set his first trial as winning the next Spirit Master Competition and arranged for the Ancient Tree of Life at Star Dou Forest’s Lake of Life to help him obtain his fifth spirit ring 114 118.

She left a Divine Sense incarnation in his Sea of Soul to oversee his growth. It awakened during Bibi Dong’s possession by Rakshasa God’s Thought, helping force the intruding thought to withdraw. Later, she manifested in the Papal Hall and forced the Worship Hall elders to their knees after they threatened her successor 115 132 209.

Sea God Island trials

Life and Destruction secured the Sea God’s cooperation in supporting Ye Liangchen. She subsequently rewarded his completed trials and supervised dangerous spirit-ring absorptions. During his seventh-ring absorption, she converted the God-given Spirit Ring into a life-bound ring whose age would increase with his strength; he ultimately absorbed a 130,000-year ring 195 287 294.

After his eighth trial, his Life Divine Power affinity reached 100%. She offered to transfer her divine seat immediately and erase the Sea God’s Soul Seal if necessary. Ye Liangchen instead chose to reach level 100 independently before accepting her inheritance 433 435.

Transferring her divine position

After Ye Liangchen became a god, she removed his six million-year spirit bones and fused them into Divine Equipment. She and Destruction then transferred their source-law divine power to him, with her Life Power balancing the destructive energy entering his body. He completed the inheritance of Life, Destruction, and Thunder 449.

Her Divine Sense remained with him after the transfer. She explained that his independent ascension had attracted attention from potentially hostile gods and continued protecting him until he could defend himself 450.

Douluo Star and the God Realm

The Goddess of Life supported Ye Liangchen’s Star Creation Project and came to Douluo Star with other retired goddesses. She supplied a Tree of Life sapling, learned combat techniques from him, and imposed rules forbidding visiting gods from interfering in mortal affairs. She also accompanied him, Gu Yuena, and Poseidon to the Crimson Realm, helping hold off the Crimson Mother while he refined the realm’s energy 514 515 516 517.

When Ye Liangchen reached the God Realm, she welcomed him into the Life Temple and finally withdrew her long-resident Divine Sense. He recast the Destruction God King’s body and taught him to control his destructive power, resolving the couple’s inability to conceive. Her pregnancy was confirmed shortly afterward 521 525.

Her improved combat abilities surprised the gods during her confrontation with the Golden Dragon King. She later tested Asura God’s strength using Myriad Leaves Flying Flower Stream, demonstrating how far she had moved beyond her former reputation as a poor fighter 524 530.

The Goddess of Life is kind and generally disinclined toward conflict. Discovering a child with her likeness prompts curiosity and an offer of inheritance rather than hostility. Gu Yuena consequently regards her more favorably than the other Great God Kings 6 26.

Her gentleness does not prevent forceful protection of Ye Liangchen. She intimidates those who threaten him, defends his relationship with the Dragon Clan before Asura God, and dismisses Hypnos’s accusations about her interference. In that confrontation, she explicitly states that the rules were established to restrain other gods 209 389 513.

She also has a mischievous side, teasing Ye Liangchen about his relationships and watching him through her Divine Sense. Over their years together, her affection becomes explicitly maternal: she regards him as her own child and his companions as daughters-in-law 196 390 516.
