"Is it over?"
Moody asked.
"It's over."
Dumbledore nodded and bent down to pick up a broken black gem from the ashes.
It was the Resurrection Stone.
But the Resurrection Stone had now been burned by Fiendfyre. It had lost all its magic and become an ordinary stone one could find anywhere.
"Ha ha! Albus! We did it!"
Having personally destroyed the Dark Lord left Moody exhilarated.
Three years.
He had spent three years running all over the world in search of Horcruxes!
Now, Mad-Eye could finally take a rest.
"Yes, we did."
Unlike Moody, Dumbledore sighed, seemingly not in high spirits.
He stared blankly at the broken Resurrection Stone, then looked at the ominous remains Voldemort had left behind. No one knew what he was thinking.
"Albus, what's wrong?"
Voldemort and his followers had been wiped out. This should have been a great thing, so why did his old friend seem unhappy?
Could there be more to it?
"Nothing. I was just thinking about the past. If I hadn't brought young Tom into the Magical World back then, would everything have turned out differently?"
Dumbledore was old, after all.
Even though he had been resolute before, after personally dealing with Voldemort, he still couldn't help wondering about what might have been.
"Albus, you're worrying over nothing!"
Moody was blunt as ever.
He glared at him and sneered.
"If he hadn't learned magic, he'd have spent his whole life in a Muggle prison!
"His evil was inborn. We've all seen his memories. He dared to kill his classmates when he was a child. Who knows what he would've done when he grew up?"
Old Moody wore a menacing grin like a thug.
"What's right and wrong has already been decided. We won!"
"That's right. We won."
Moody's words snapped Dumbledore
