Background / History
Duncan was originally a man from Earth. His consciousness entered Human Form No. 1, an orphaned nineteen-year-old Empire lowborn who had survived through petty theft, fighting, farm work, and a brief stint as a blacksmith’s apprentice. The original body’s owner shared Duncan’s name, sparing him the need to assume a new identity. 2 5
He awakened during a massacre carried out by deserters. Outmatched by armored soldiers while armed with a manure fork, he discovered God’s Eye View and used its complete battlefield awareness to kill his pursuers. The encounter established the pattern of his growth: study the enemy, exploit terrain and timing, kill decisively, and seize whatever abilities the opponent possessed. 1 2
Duncan quickly accepted the brutality of his new world. He looted the dead, wore a knight’s clothing, and treated survival as more important than old-world scruples. At the same time, he retained a practical concern for civilians, refugees, and soldiers willing to follow him. 2 5
Appearance
Human Form No. 1 is a nineteen-year-old former blacksmith apprentice. He is described as handsome and upright, with restrained deep-set eyes, classically sculpted features, and a presence that draws attention even beside nobles. 25
- Not especially bulky, but possesses unusually dense muscles and bones due to Gluttony and accumulated supernatural enhancement. 26
- Carries numerous superficial scars from arrows and battlefield wounds across his chest and back. 113
- Commonly appears armed with a bow and sword, reflecting his roles as both ranger and frontline commander. 25 36
- Later vessels can be altered through bloodline activation, appearance modification, possession, or divine incarnation. 177 196 453
Personality
Duncan approaches danger with a gamer’s analytical mindset. He evaluates stamina, terrain, weapon condition, unit morale, and enemy abilities rather than relying on reckless courage. He recognizes that even with God’s Eye View, blades dull, bowstrings break, and death remains permanent. 5 26
He is pragmatic to the point of ruthlessness, especially toward enemies and political threats. He will use deception, intimidation, executions, hostage leverage, and military terror when he considers them necessary. His discipline policy is notably severe; he executes his own soldiers to deter looting and abuse. 100 128 163
Despite this, Duncan is highly conscious of legitimacy and reputation. Rather than seize Cornwall from the dying Duke of Tintagel, he invested Morgause as Duchess and retained military authority for himself, earning the name “Oathkeeper.” 47 His long-term rule also emphasizes reduced slavery, land distribution, freedom of belief, education, and the use of talent over hereditary privilege. 31 94 131 170
Abilities & Skills
God’s Eye View
Duncan’s foundational ability places his consciousness above his vessel, providing a tactical perspective over the surrounding area.
- Grants a 360-degree, no-dead-angle view of combat and allows highly precise bodily control. 1
- Tracks nearby living beings as markers, including relative strength, status, alignment, and unit composition. 5 26
- Functions as a strategic map for detecting ambushes, monitoring morale, and locating hidden threats. 26 119
- Does not eliminate physical limitations; stamina, injuries, equipment durability, and line of sight remain relevant. 1 5
Plunder and Combat Adaptation
Duncan can acquire skills from defeated enemies, particularly when they possess abilities he does not already have.
- Gains weapon techniques, combat stances, special abilities, and bloodline-derived powers through killing formidable opponents. 2 10 12
- Cannot reliably take abilities an enemy does not possess; repeated kills of similar opponents mostly improve existing techniques. 10
- Later gains the Conqueror trait, allowing him to plunder treasures from defeated Heroic Spirits and other powerful enemies. 196
- Has acquired skills from humans, supernatural creatures, constructs, demons, and divine avatars. 12 199 429 270

- Uses military victories, land grants, reforms, and personal authority to attract followers across Britain, Gaul, and later worlds. 34 69 514
Soul, Dimensional Space, and Vessels
Dimensional Space is the basis of Duncan’s cross-world growth.
- Legendary Points can strengthen his soul, elevate a Human Form, engrave abilities, or grant bloodlines to descendants. 12 84 170
- Higher Spirit Soul increases resistance to curses and magic and permits temporary soul projection. 70
- Consciousness Hosting Combat allows replicated consciousnesses to command battle groups independently, though their tactics are more rigid than Duncan’s direct control. 145
- Divine Sense Incarnation permits him to divide his soul into divine senses, clones, and vessel controllers. 196
- Can create and anchor new souls for reincarnation, incorporating selected aspects of his humanity and kingly responsibility. 389 390
Bloodlines, Regeneration, and Divine Power
Duncan repeatedly improves his physical ceiling through supernatural bloodlines and divine authority.
- Gluttony increases vitality and growth through consumption; when engraved onto the Dragon Whelp, it accelerates draconic development. 12 84
- Dragon Bloodline grants magic, draconic durability, transformation potential, and later Dragon Skin or scale-like innate armor. 50 184
- Giant and Titan power grants immense strength, boulder-throwing capability, and eventually reality-defying feats of force. 193 271
- Regeneration and Avalon’s protection allow him to recover rapidly, resist bleeding, and sustain prolonged combat. 61 84
- As a divine being, he can wield Domain Laws, divine blessings, automatic healing, Alter Reality, and Alter Space. 433 449 520
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Noden’s Bow — A powerful war bow capable of firing armor-piercing arrows through heavy armor; estimated by Duncan to have roughly a three-hundred-pound draw. 36
- Sword of Promised Victory — Avalon-forged Holy Sword whose unfinished scabbard grants Tireless, enhanced stamina, rapid healing, and immunity to continuous bleeding. 61
- Oathkeeper Sword — The ceremonial and symbolic blade Duncan uses to invest Morgause and swear his oath to treat Britons and Picts equally. 47 128

- Banshee Spine Whip — Legendary relic made from the slain Banshee’s cervical vertebrae, spine, and tail. 57

Story Role / Major Arcs
Rise in Medieval Britain
Duncan survives the massacre at Bran Village, joins a refugee caravan, and develops into a feared archer while traveling with Triss and other supernatural allies. He chooses Britain as the best place to gain strength and Legendary Points rather than becoming entangled in continental politics too early. 1 8 11
After saving Duke of Tintagel and killing Hengist, he becomes a British hero. He uses Anya’s resources, Triss’s support, and his own reputation to build an exile legion and claim Southampton as a base. 24 29 30
Oathkeeper and King of Britain
Duncan secures Cornwall without dispossessing Morgause, establishes his reputation as Oathkeeper, and expands through war against Saxons, Camelot, and the Picts. 47 103 119
He unifies Scotland and Ireland through a mixture of military force, negotiated submission, equal-treatment oaths, and Avalon-backed authority. 128 130 As King of Britain, he promotes land reform, personal freedom, religious tolerance, scholarship, and a centralized military order. 94 131 134
Roman Restoration and Imperial Rule
Duncan rejects Aetius’s offer of adoption and succession, choosing to remain Governor of Britannia and pursue his own power base. 77 He later defeats the Franks, Visigoths, and Vandals, purges the Senate, and is acclaimed Augustus by the Roman populace. 156 166 169
As emperor, he restores the Olympic Games, reforms the Church, delegates civil administration, and uses Legendary Points to establish a supernatural imperial bloodline. 169 170 After thirty-three years of rule, he ascends as an Immortal Heroic Spirit. 173
Multiversal Vessels and Mythic Intervention
As an Immortal Heroic Spirit, Duncan gains responsibility for humanity’s survival and begins acting through additional Human Forms and vessels in other worlds. 176 196 His third vessel develops within the Mechanist Cult’s industrial underground, where Dragon Bloodline and mechanical cultivation merge into steel-like defenses and enhanced physiology. 184 214
Barbarian Mythological Story
Duncan takes Quinn-Minks’ vessel to replace Hegel’s intended legend and disrupts the Raging Gods’ script. 228 He rescues Hegel, redirects the barbarian warband toward sea conquest, receives favor from the Lady of Raging Waves, and becomes a central figure in the resulting mythological struggle. 257 262
His barbarian vessel defeats legendary heroes, slays four Chosen of Deities in a single day, awakens Titan’s Power, and ultimately leaves the Raging Gods’ war rather than remain their tool. 270 271 272
Cultivation and Heavenly Court
In a martial world, Duncan advances through the Evergreen Immortality Skill, develops Hegemon’s Aura and Moon Step, and gains Ghost Dao techniques. 327 332 He later defeats an Outer Heavenly Demon God, refines its remains into the Human Emperor Banner and South Heaven Gate, and establishes a Heavenly Court force. 370
Faerûn and Divine Ascension
As Duncan Starfall, he gains influence through the Church of Wealth and Joy Church, recruits adventurers and church agents, and builds alliances with dragons, priests, mercenaries, and powerful women of the Starfall Sea. 413 418
He destroys demon lords, rescues Waukeen from the Abyss, gains Minor Divine Power, and prepares to seize stronger divine portfolios rather than settle for a weak godhood. 433 449 470 His Divine Kingdom eventually clashes directly with Cyric’s Shattered Castle as he uses Alter Reality and Alter Space to force a decisive divine confrontation. 520
Notable Quotes

Trivia

- Britons spread rumors that he is an elf prince, a descendant of Avalon, or the son of Oberon. 31 33
- He initially considers himself better suited to being a fierce general than handling administration, later solving this by relying on skilled subordinates and delegated consciousnesses. 26 145
- Duncan’s legend repeatedly overwrites expected historical and mythological narratives, including those associated with King Arthur, Hegel, and several future political states. 90 156 257
