Background / History

Haijar is said to be the son of Kord, the God of Strength. According to the account of his birth, his mother—the She-Panther of the Black Lion Tribe—followed a stag across the Snowfield Sacred Mountain, where it transformed into a man. After Haijar was born, she entrusted him to a tribal shaman and entered the sacred mountain 228 229.

Haijar killed a tribal chief's eldest son during a hunt. He was later exiled after seizing a priestess inside a shrine while drunk. During his exile, he gained renown by hunting a Thunder Beast and recruited his first followers. An oracle subsequently directed him south 229.

On that journey, Haijar's warband killed raiding swamp lizardmen for a small kingdom, after which Haijar killed its king in a dispute. The band later reached the Thibet River Basin to hunt Hydrin, a nine-headed Hydra. More than ten fighters died in the battle. Haijar nearly finished the creature, but Duncan—controlling the body of one of Haijar's followers—struck the final blow 228 229.
