Gray-White Text flashed at the edge of his vision.
[Target detected: ? (Eerie Transcendence) (Dangerous)] [An Eerie Transcendent with an extremely high degree of compatibility. Their pathway is related to the erasure of presence, and the concentration of their aura has neared the boundary of cognition.]
Lu Yuan's heartbeat abruptly quickened.
The gentle tone was entirely different from the aura emanating from him.
That aura was so intense that goosebumps rose across Lu Yuan's skin, his body reacting with physical rejection.
Though it was not as oppressive as the Guardian had been when Lu Yuan ascended the Clock Tower, his strength was likely above Klaus's.
K's right hand had already reached out.
His five fingers spread, his palm aimed at the center of Lu Yuan's back. His fingertips were less than three inches from Lu Yuan's spine. His hand was very pale, his knuckles long and slender, like those of an ordinary student.
Lu Yuan was sprinting at full speed under acceleration, yet to K, it was as though he had not moved at all.
Just as K's fingertips were about to touch his back...
Something behind Lu Yuan opened its eyes.
A pitch-black eye emerged from the shadow on Lu Yuan's back. Its pupil was enormous, nearly filling the entire socket, so black that there was no bottom to be seen.
The eyeball turned and fixed its gaze on K.
K's outstretched hand stopped in midair.
The smile remained on his lips, but his fingertips did not move forward.
That eyeball was not something belonging to Lu Yuan.
It hovered behind Lu Yuan's shoulder, its black pupil swaying idly as it stared directly in K's direction.
Lu Yuan had seen this kind of eyeball atop the Clock Tower—the things rising and sinking within the Guardian's pitch-black aura.
