The Bone Ring on Klaus's left ring finger gave off a dark green glimmer. Its bone-colored material slowly extended along his finger, but instead of forming a Short Blade or longsword, it narrowed at the tip of his index finger, eventually condensing into an extremely fine bone blade tip, barely thicker than a sewing needle.
Klaus walked over and crouched in front of the Guardian.
The Guardian's gaze shifted from the worm on Lu Yuan's finger to the bone blade tip in Klaus's hand.
He did not evade. A Black Eyeball bulged beneath the skin at the side of his neck, rolled once, then receded.
Klaus did not hesitate. He pressed the bone blade tip against a spot two finger-widths above the Guardian's collarbone and lowered his wrist slightly, making an extremely shallow cut.
The incision was tiny, less than a finger long. Black blood seeped out, thick and moving far more slowly than normal blood, with extremely fine fragments mixed across its surface.
Lu Yuan leaned closer to inspect it. The debris was irregular in shape; rounded pieces and angular ones tumbled together in the black blood. A line of Gray-White Text popped up at the edge of his vision.
[Detected miniature Eerie contamination residue.]
Eyeball fragments. Fragments of eyeballs were mixed into the Guardian's blood. The contamination had already penetrated to the level of his blood.
Klaus withdrew the bone blade tip. The bone-colored material retracted along his fingertip, once again forming the Bone Ring around his ring finger.
He rose to his feet and retreated two steps toward the corridor.
Lu Yuan brought the Worm of Knowledge at the tip of his right finger to the edge of the incision.
The instant the worm's feelers touched the black blood, they shrank sharply. A fierce resistance
