Bronze had barely any corrosive effect on it. It only gave off a few faint sizzling sounds before the entire patch of bronze dimmed.
It was a large Chimera.
With both hands exerting force, a gigantic figure emerged from The Abyss.
It was dozens of meters long. Even with only half its body exposed, its hunched, nauseating form nearly filled the Collapse Pit.
Its body was formed from countless masses of twisted, fused Flesh. Beneath its shell of woody fibers, the outlines of innumerable different individuals could faintly be seen writhing and twisting.
It had no distinct head. Above its body was only a conical lump of Flesh, topped by a huge mouth pieced together from Ghouls.
The moment its upper body emerged, vast numbers of Great Ghouls poured from the unfilled gaps in the Collapse Pit. At the same time, the giant Chimera's mouth abruptly opened and let out a second roar.
This roar was far more powerful than the first. A visible shockwave burst forth and crushed outward in every direction.
Adrian's Holy Light flickered under the sudden impact. The pages of the Scripture floating before him flipped frantically, and the Archbishop's face darkened.
"You're courting death!"
The next moment, countless golden patterns on his chest linked with the Scripture before him, and the Holy Light immediately stabilized.
As it stabilized, his chanting continued without pause. Pale golden light erupted from his body, and an indistinct phantom rose above his head.
The phantom bore six wings, and its indistinguishable face seemed to possess a touch more divine presence.
As if seeing the giant Chimera before it, the phantom raised a hand and pointed. A streak of golden-white light crossed the sky.
The next moment, the giant Chimera's head vanished outright, as though something had forcibly erased it.
