The convoy continued onward. The mountains ahead gradually came into full view, while the cliffs on either side receded and curved together into a ring.
Further ahead, Lu Yuan saw the Knight Academy for the first time.
The academy stood between the mountains, enclosed by peaks on three sides and open on one. Dark, towering walls climbed along the slopes, with pointed towers rising one after another from their tops. Beyond the walls, domed storehouses and longhouses spread out in uneven layers all the way down to the foot of the mountain.
Numerous lights glimmered in the distance, scattered like stars and linked together amid the snow.
This place looked less like a school and more like a mountain city sealing off the pass. It covered an enormous area.
The convoy did not enter the academy directly.
Outside the high walls, some distance away, stood a cluster of guesthouses and carriage yards spread along the outer wall. The Blue Knight led the convoy inside.
"We're here. This is the Outer Garden."
She swung down from her horse and called for everyone to get off the carriages.
The students climbed out one after another, stamping their feet and breathing warm air into their hands. Their faces all bore the weariness of several days on the road. Dean stretched lazily, and his first question was whether there was anything hot to eat.
"Leave the goods and horses to the people here," the Blue Knight instructed. "They'll take them to their designated places."
The Outer Garden attendants came forward. Some led away the horses while others unloaded the goods, all moving with practiced efficiency.
