Grim Port was shrouded in a thin layer of fog in the early morning.
The streets were deserted. Only a few workers who had risen early hurried past carrying tools, their breath condensing into puffs of white mist in the air.
Lu Yuan pulled his trench coat tighter and strode quickly along the stone-paved road.
Mina's black notebook was tucked against his chest. Mo Shui poked half her head out from its edge, her beady eyes darting around as she surveyed their surroundings.
"I've already prepared the knowledge orb."
Mo Shui's voice came from inside the notebook, carrying a hint of pride.
"Even if you and Old Morgan take a while longer to talk, I can hold out."
Lu Yuan looked down at her and nodded.
"Thanks for your hard work."
"Of course."
Mo Shui sniffed and retreated into the notebook, leaving only her eyes exposed.
"This Book Spirit has principles. Even though I live in Mina's notebook, I still prepare whatever needs preparing."
The corners of Lu Yuan's mouth lifted slightly, but he said nothing.
Before long, the outline of the Night Watcher base came into view.
The gray stone walls faded in and out through the morning mist. The Gas Lamps at the entrance were still lit, casting a dim yellow glow.
Lu Yuan took a deep breath, pushed open the main gate, and skillfully entered the small door hidden in the corner.
Supply Management Office.
Old Morgan was sitting at his desk, surrounded by piles of reports and documents. He held a pen in his hand and was making notes on something.
Hearing footsteps, Old Morgan looked up. When he saw Lu Yuan and Mo Shui, his brows immediately furrowed.
"So early?"
He set down his pen, his cloudy eyes scanning Lu Yuan from head to toe.
