Lu Yuan took the opportunity to activate Time Bestower again, moving along the edge of the battlefield. Every shot struck a vital point with precision. Without the protection of the Deep Sea barrier, the Enchanted Revolver's power increased exponentially, especially against mutated creatures.
Though the familiars were powerful, they began to steadily lose ground under the dual onslaught of firepower and supernatural beings.
Alice swept her hammer sideways, blasting a familiar away. It rolled across the ground several times, its chest caved in and ribs completely shattered.
Yet it did not die.
The familiar struggled to its feet, its murky eyes sweeping over the battlefield before suddenly locking onto a gray-robed man who had not yet had time to mutate.
The next second, it pounced.
The gray-robed man did not even have time to scream before the familiar bit down on his neck and tore his entire head off, blood spraying everywhere.
The familiar opened its mouth, split all the way to its ears, and swallowed its companion's head whole.
Then came the arms, the torso...
It was devouring its own kind!
As flesh and blood entered its stomach, the familiar's aura began to surge violently. Its sunken chest healed at a visible rate, its scales became harder, and its body swelled by a full size.
"Not good!" Mary's pupils contracted.
"Don't let them succeed!" Alice shouted as well.
The other familiars seemed to receive some kind of revelation and rushed toward the gray-robed men who had yet to complete their mutations.
But Lu Yuan, positioned on the outskirts of the battlefield, reacted even faster.
Empowered by Time Bestower and Mary's silver halo, flames wrapped around his bullets as he blew the heads off every unmutated cultist!
The familiars' plan had failed!
A curve tugged at Alice's lips.
