Lu Yuan's Discovery

I wonder how Oden's doing out there.

As Lu Yuan thought about him, he looked around. A fog-shrouded wasteland stretched as far as he could see.

There were no obvious woods and no signs of life. The land stretched endlessly, dotted only with bare rock faces and strange, weathered stones that twisted both near and far.

Lu Yuan glanced up. There was no sun, nor any stars, yet light persisted from some unknown source. The entire sky was hazy, like a dust-veiled dusk fixed immovably above his head.

He pressed his foot harder against the ground. It felt somewhat soft, and he could not tell what lay beneath it. He had no intention of investigating, though. Right now, any unnecessary move might bring unnecessary trouble.

The Gray Mist kept flowing around him, filling almost the entire world. It seemed to be the only thing here that still moved. Visibility was poor, too; anything more than a dozen paces away was reduced to a blurry outline.

Lu Yuan stayed where he was. Within the thick fog, something seemed to loom. Long, narrow shapes jutted diagonally from the ground, rising and falling in rows that extended out of sight. Closer by, there were rounded outlines half-buried in the soil, but he could not make them out clearly either.

Farther away stood the outlines of mountains. Something about them felt wrong, but the fog kept him from seeing them clearly.

No wonder they call this place the Land of the Dead Silence. Its quiet was enough to make his skin crawl.

Frey's expression gradually settled as she emerged from her pain. The Gray-White Text offered no further explanation. She appeared to be in good condition, and nothing overtly hostile nearby seemed to be targeting him.

At least we're safe for now.
