However, Itozawa ignored her and walked back to Class B on his own.
Everyone in Class B had seen their argument and heard what they'd wagered.
Kanzaki spoke with a hint of reproach. "Itozawa, you shouldn't have made a bet with Class C so casually." His voice was low, his eyes fixed firmly on Itozawa. "We can't be sure we've won yet. We shouldn't take that kind of risk."
Ichinose stepped in to smooth things over.
"All right, all right, don't argue here." Ichinose's voice was calm as he stood between them to keep them from clashing. "What we need to do now is hurry to the office, find Class C's homeroom teacher, and win this match."
Led by Itozawa, the students of Class B hurried across campus, heading straight for the homeroom teacher's office.
When they reached the office, Itozawa was surprised to see Kamuro from Class A walking out, looking deeply aggrieved.
Her brows were knitted, and her eyes brimmed with anger and discontent. She had clearly just been through something unpleasant.
Itozawa stepped forward and greeted Kamuro politely. "Kamuro, how did your attempt go?"
Kamuro looked up and fixed her sharp gaze on Itozawa. Her eyes flickered with recognition.
Then her expression grew even more resentful, and she glared at him.
Everything that had gone wrong was because of him. That bastard was to blame for how miserable things had become for her.
"It's all your fault!" Kamuro ground out through clenched teeth. Fury flashed in her eyes, but she deliberately kept her voice low, as if she didn't want anyone nearby to notice her anger.
Her shoulders trembled slightly, as if she were struggling to rein in her emotions.
She leaned forward a little, seeming to want to move closer and grab Itozawa. But after hesitating, she gave up and stayed where she was, muttering resentfully, "If you hadn't egged me on to oppose Sakayanagi, I wouldn't have been caught, forced to do things for him, or humiliated here!"
Itozawa frowned slightly. He hadn't expected his words to lead to Sakayanagi taking control of Kamuro.
He silently wondered whether Sakayanagi had taken control of Kamuro because of the story's inertia. It was something he'd worried about before. But he'd never imagined that he himself would hand Sakayanagi the opportunity. The realization felt ironic. He'd thought his foreknowledge of the story would give him an advantage, but now the plot had become a complete mess, and his own changes had turned into the story's inertia.
"Kamuro, I..." Itozawa started to apologize, but before he could finish, Kamuro cut him off.
She gave him no chance to continue. She glared at him, whipped around, and strode away, leaving Itozawa and the students of Class B staring at one another.
Watching Kamuro's angry retreating figure, Itozawa couldn't help but smile wryly.
He turned around and found the students of Class B looking at him with complicated expressions. They'd seen the whole thing: Itozawa approaching the purple-haired girl to speak with her, then her angrily whispering her accusations before storming off.
To them, it looked like Itozawa had seduced her and then dumped her right there. They all looked at him like he was a womanizer.
Itozawa smiled helplessly. He knew they'd misunderstood his motives, but right now he was more concerned with the mission.
He raised both hands in surrender. "All right, all right. I admit it looked pretty bad this time. But I really was just trying to gather information."
Kanzaki raised an eyebrow and teased him. "Oh? And what information did you get? Or did you just get an earful?"
Itozawa's smile faded, and his expression turned serious. "Kamuro told me that Sakagami Ryoma, Class C's homeroom teacher, is in there." He paused to let the news sink in. "And he's extremely hostile toward his students. We need to be ready to deal with him."
From what Kamuro had just said, her attempt hadn't gone well, and she'd been humiliated. Thinking about which homeroom teacher in the original work would humiliate students, Itozawa decided it could only be Sakagami Ryoma, Class C's homeroom teacher.
