"Mr. Bai, this is an invitation from the Dresster Family!" Valentina placed an exquisitely decorated invitation on Bai Jing's desk.
"Oh?" Bai Jing took it. It felt remarkably heavy in his hand. After scanning the material, he discovered that the golden sunflower on its cover was actually made of pure gold!
A century-old aristocratic family indeed—quite lavish with their spending.
He opened the invitation, and its contents came into view.
"A banquet celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the Animal Care Foundation?" Bai Jing looked up. "What exactly is this Animal Care Foundation?"
"It's a foundation led by the Morgan Consortium, with investments from all the major families. Its purpose is to protect wildlife breeding, combat illegal poaching, sales, and breeding operations, among other things!" Valentina explained. "It's quite famous throughout the United States. The foundation's annual charity gala every February especially attracts many celebrities and major entrepreneurs!"
"What a joke." Bai Jing curled his lip. "Reply for me. Tell them I accept!"
He was somewhat curious. Why would the Dresster Family invite him to an event like this? Were they trying to make peace? Trying to corrupt him with capitalism's sugar-coated bullets?
Bai Jing looked again at the banquet's location and suddenly remembered something.
He spread out a map of New York City, studied it for a moment, and then froze.
Still unable to believe it, Bai Jing tapped the desk. Valentina, the competent assistant, came jogging in.
"Where is this place?" Bai Jing pointed at a building beside the Hudson River.
"Uh, the Chinese Consulate General in New York, USA!" Valentina leaned in for a look and answered.
"What the hell?" Bai Jing was stunned. "How is she here? This close?"
Valentina nodded. "Didn't you already know?"
"What the hell would I know?" Bai Jing was speechless.
