Within the golden light, Xuandu's body slowly rose into the air, his green robes fluttering and his black hair whipping wildly.
Myriad radiant strands of Merit Golden Light circled his body, each containing the profound principles of the Heavenly Dao.
Vast pressure spread outward. Though it did not tower over all things like a Sage's Might, it instinctively inspired reverence in all things.
"Heavenly Dao merit... of such scale..."
Xuandu's heart trembled greatly as he felt the warm, peaceful, yet vast and unmatched power of merit surrounding him.
Yet there was not the slightest joy in his heart. Instead, alarm bells blared!

To transcend Heavenly Dao, form his own laws, rely on no external objects, and not use merit!
If he accepted this vast Heavenly Dao merit now, would that not mean going against his own Hunyuan Dao Path?
Merit is wonderful. It could boost cultivation, stabilize one's Dao Foundation, make one immune to all laws, and render karma difficult to attach.
But once it was infused into him, he would form deeper karma with the Heavenly Dao, and his Dao Fruit would inevitably be stained with a Heavenly Dao Mark.
How could the difficulty of truly transcending it in the future merely multiply severalfold?
