Background

Yelü Yuyan is the daughter of Yelü Tianzheng, the Prime Minister of Jiangzhe Province, and Yu Niang, a fox-tribe maidservant. Her elder brother, Yelü Yufeng, was taken in and raised by the Dayuan princess whom Yelü Tianzheng had married, while Yuyan was returned to her father after the princess had Yu Niang killed. Yuyan greatly admired Yufeng, while Tianzheng’s relationship with his son became hostile and jealous. 10 50

As an adult, Yuyan became Lu Hualong’s wife and the madam of Willow Oriole Alley. Their marriage is politically useful but deeply antagonistic: Lu resents his dependence on the Yelü Family, while Yuyan treats him as an instrument and later abandons their coordinated battle without warning. 10 35 44

Appearance

In human guise, Yelü Yuyan appears as an exceptionally beautiful, delicate young woman with amorous eyes and an outwardly frail bearing. Her true form is a colossal Heart Devouring Fox, possessing enormous fox claws, fleshy tails, and fox charm eyes. 34 44 45

Personality

Yuyan is intensely vindictive and regards humiliation as an injury that must be repaid. After the disguised Ge Xian escapes from Willow Oriole Alley, she spends considerable effort hunting the “Ugly Dragon Girl,” forcibly summoning nearby dragon-blooded creatures and slaughtering those drawn to her lair. 12 16

She is also calculating when her survival is at stake. During the collapse of her family’s position, she uses Yu Niang’s preserved corpse to trigger Yelü Tianzheng’s Vicious Habit Resurgence, then directs her father to protect her and seize Ge Xian. 50

Willow Oriole Alley

Yuyan captures Ge Xian while he is disguised as the “Ugly Dragon Girl,” intending to interrogate and keep him at Willow Oriole Alley. Ge Xian escapes after deceiving her, killing Chun Niang, and shedding successive Skin Sacs to evade identification. 10 11 12

She and Lu Hualong discuss selling Qiantang County and its inhabitants as cultivated livestock. Their conspiracy is later superseded when Yelü Tianzheng sells all of Jiangzhe Province to the Eternal Life Cult. 11 35 36

Hunt for the “Ugly Dragon Girl”

Unable to accept the loss of face caused by Ge Xian’s escape, Yuyan deploys the Dragon Bone Flute to summon dragon-blooded beings into Willow Oriole Alley. She personally massacres the summoned creatures while continuing her search. 16 17

She later captures Ge Xian in his peddler identity, intending to exploit his perceived Perception Talent to track the Dragon Girl—unaware that she is ordering him to hunt himself. 34

Sunset Mountain and the Qiantang River Chase

During the battle around Sunset Mountain, Yuyan fights Monk Faxian and is blamed by Li Wa when the Eternal Life Cult’s Red Pill Army scheme collapses. 42 43

After discovering that Ge Xian is the dragon who stole her Yinglong Immortal Lord Scroll and deceived her through Qiu Niang, Yuyan pursues him into the Qiantang River. Ge Xian wounds her with combined poison, lightning, charm, and hypnosis techniques, but she repeatedly catches up through superior cultivation and her Bloodline Divine Ability. 44 45

Bai Fugui ultimately shields Ge Xian with the Vajra Bowl and numerous treasures, preventing Yuyan from reaching him. 46

Control of Yelü Tianzheng

When Yelü Tianzheng attempts to flee the battlefield, Yuyan produces Yu Niang’s corpse and uses it to trigger his guilt-driven Vicious Habit Resurgence. She then orders him to capture Ge Xian and secure her escape, even declaring that anything besides herself may be sacrificed. 50
