"Still not getting up? Honestly, how long do you plan on leaning on me?"
"The people who caught you. Huh, were they after you or me? Whatever, they've already been scared off anyway, haha. Don't let their size fool you, once one of them is killed, the rest will get scared and run. Li Ke was right to call them a mob."
Jinx looked at the cowering little imp on her body and shook the gun in her hand.
Hearing Jinx say that, the little girl immediately backed away and then stood up.
Her hands clasped together in front of her, she lowered her head, but then secretly looked up at Jinx. When she saw Jinx looking at her, their eyes met. Her orange-yellow pupils contracted, her body trembled, and she immediately averted her gaze, lowering her head again.
Seeing her like this, Jinx let out a speechless sigh.
"Consider yourself lucky to have run into me. If it were someone else... well, I don't know how to finish this. Why aren't you playing along? You should respond when someone talks to you. Respond? You're really rude."
Standing up, Jinx tapped her head twice with the gun, then turned around and waved at the little imp from behind. "Anyway, I wish you good luck, kid~"
The little girl watched Jinx's bouncing figure as she left. After a moment of hesitation, she pulled down her hat.
Then, sounds echoed from the alley ahead.
"Huh? Why are you following me?"
"Why aren't you talking yet?"
"Kid, don't you have a home?"
Li Ke, who was in the Mid-level Plaza gathering information and thinking about how to make money, looked at the bustling Business Point. Then, he spotted a staggering figure in the distance, a figure Li Ke was very familiar with.
Seeing this, Li Ke was stunned for a moment, then immediately followed.
Pushing through the crowd, Li Ke walked towards the person, moving deeper and deeper until they deviated from the main thoroughfare and left the center of the Mid-level Plaza.
A moment later, Li Ke followed the person to a location that looked like an Abandoned Junkyard. Many children were rummaging through the piles of trash. They were small and thin, which made Li Ke frown.
Walking into the depths of the junkyard, Li Ke rounded a corner and saw several figures at the end.
A man with a Metal Jaw and hair standing up like a hedgehog was choking a man.
"Cough, Boss Mark, I, I really didn't steal your money." The man being choked struggled hard, his arm wound looking particularly gruesome.
"Bullshit, Malson. I took you in because I thought you were clever. I entrusted the money to you, and this is how you repay me?" The Spiky Head raised his hand. His right wrist to forearm had been severed and replaced with a rusty Steel Saber, which he pointed at the man's neck.
"It's not my fault, the Gutter is in chaos, I really did my best."
"If you really did your best, you shouldn't be here!"
"That's my damn money, my money, understand? Who the hell knows if you used my money to buy yourself this Wretched Life."
Mark spat, the spittle landing on Malson's face.
Malson's eyes rolled upward, his breathing labored.
But in the next moment, Malson coughed violently, his body bending against the wall as he clutched his throat. He thought Mark had let him go and struggled to lift his head to look. Just as he was about to thank Mark, he saw this scene with one eye wide and the other small.
"Damn it! Shoot!"
"Who are you to dare provoke our Ci Mu Gang!"
A huge commotion erupted. Half of Mark's upper face was gone, blown away. He fell heavily into a pile of garbage, motionless. The other three henchmen, one clutching his calf in pain and screaming, while the other two fired their guns in panic.
Gunshots rang out, fire spewing, but in the next instant, the heads of the Ci Mu Gang members holding pistols seemed to be pushed by something, slamming into the wall. Half their faces were embedded in the wall, blood mixing with the exploded White Matter, staining the wall.
A scream sounded, and soon, the gunfire ceased, and everything returned to peace.
Malson's body trembled, his head hanging as he coughed. Then he heard steady footsteps approaching him.
Damn it, is it the Alchemical Baron's men again?
But didn't they already take all of Ci Mu Gang's money?
Why are they still doing this?
Malson felt despair.
As a small gang in Black Alley, Ci Mu Gang appeared overbearing in their daily lives, but in reality, compared to the true gangs and the "Entrepreneurs," Ci Mu Gang was merely a larger ant among ants.
This time, the Gutter had descended into chaos. Gangs and the Alchemical Baron's men were spread throughout the Gutter, and even Black Alley had become a Wasteland. They claimed to be searching for someone, but after these guys barged into their territory, how could things possibly be good?
This is really fucked up.
Perhaps Li Ke, that bastard, was right. Zaun has changed, become even more abnormal.
But... weren't we already abnormal to begin with?
Malson thought, feeling his life had reached its end. But then he felt his arm being lifted, and he leaned against a slender body.
"What are you thinking about? So engrossed."
A somewhat familiar voice sounded. Malson turned his head and saw a familiar face.
"You, Li Ke? My god, how could it be you?"
"Malson, you really don't look like you're doing well."
Li Ke looked at Malson and smiled.
On the first floor of the room, on a Torn Sofa, Malson's arm was bandaged. He sat on the sofa with his head bowed. Beside him sat a child wearing a hat.
Like him, she dared not speak, her hands placed on her knees as she sat obediently on the sofa.
Li Ke looked at the Little Girl. Her hat, resembling Teemo's, was very conspicuous. Then, Li Ke looked at Jinx:
"It's one thing for you to run out to play, but why did you bring someone back?"
"I wanted to ask you the same thing. Why did you bring someone back?"
"He's Malson. Did you forget him?"
"Malson? I have some impression." Jinx spread her hands. "As for her, she insisted on following me."
"."
Sitting with Jinx, Li Ke was speechless.
"Forget it, let's leave it at that for now. Anyway, we still have quite a bit of money. Two people, and one is a child. We won't eat much combined," Li Ke said after some thought.
Malson would stay for two days at most. Li Ke had no intention of keeping him.
As for the Little Girl, since Jinx had brought her back, would Li Ke really turn her away?
Turn away a child who looked no older than eight?
Li Ke felt he couldn't do it.
He had wanted to help the children from the Junkyard before, but Li Ke held back.
However, despite what he said, Li Ke was still a little displeased with Jinx's behavior of bringing someone back as if she were picking up a small animal.
People weren't animals, much less pets. Since Jinx had brought the person back, she had to take good care of her.
"You brought her back, so you'll be responsible, Jinx. You have to take good care of her."
"Take care of her? Are you kidding me! I don't want to. It's too much trouble. I don't want to take care of a child," Jinx retorted, sitting down and swinging her braids.
Malson, seeing Li Ke chatting and laughing with Jinx, finally couldn't hold back.
"More importantly, Li Ke, she..." Malson glanced at Jinx, then continued, "Why is she here with you?"
"Hm?" Jinx, who had been lazy moments before, immediately stood up, her gaze towards Malson turning unfriendly.
What did he mean? Couldn't she be here?
"That's a long story," Li Ke said with a smile.
