Background & History

Li Ke was a physically frail Zaun resident with no alchemical augmentations; malnutrition and Zaun’s smog had left him with poor health. After transmigrating into Runeterra, he discovered the Soul Blossom system and chose the Human Soul race for his first descent. He arrived in Nightshade territory at Purple Prison Mountain, was killed by a Nightshade Beast, and returned with his first illustration reward and increased Soul Strength 2 5.

His early descents made him a target of Thresh, the Zi Qiu Mountain Spirit. Thresh became obsessed with Li Ke’s unusual soul and attempted to seize him, but a Daybreak deity intervened and enabled Li Ke’s escape. Li Ke later learned that this protector was Ahri, beginning a connection that became central to his growth in Soul Blossom 3 4 23 25.

Soul Strength carried over into his material body, curing much of his chronic weakness and rapidly making him formidable in Zaun. He protected Jinx from Sevika, defeated Sevika with overwhelming ease, and became strong enough for Malson to propose that he establish his own faction in Black Alley 5 11 12 16.

After dying and being revived by Kindred, Li Ke returned to the Material Realm to find that ten years had passed. He resumed his larger mission while building alliances across Runeterra, serving as Bond Village’s teacher in Ionia and later being recognized publicly as the Lord of Zaun 117 153 159 255.

Appearance

Li Ke normally has black hair, which he can tie into a small bun. When he channels the powers of Soul Blossom and Kanmei, white spreads through his hair and his eyes turn faint pink 220 244.

Personality

Li Ke is highly adaptable and pragmatic. He immediately treated the Soul Blossom system as his means of surviving Runeterra, repeatedly risking dangerous descents to gain strength while learning to avoid threats such as Thresh 2 3 5.

Despite Zaun’s influence and his growing power, he retains a strong moral boundary. He protects civilians and children, teaches the villagers of Bond Village, and refuses Wolf’s joking request to bring living humans as food even when doing so could have benefited him 140 157 159.

He becomes increasingly confident as his strength grows, but remains eager to improve. Rather than relying exclusively on the system, he openly observed and copied Master Yi and Jax’s techniques until he could begin applying them himself 203 246.
