Lux smiled, "Mr. Roland, anyone else wouldn't let down their guard just because of your words, and neither would I."
Jiang Chuan gave a wry smile, "It seems I shouldn't have said so much to you, but since I can summon you in Demacia, I can naturally summon you in the Immortal Bastion. Perhaps I could summon Darius in Demacia, what do you think?"
Lux smiled, "I don't believe you can summon Darius."
Jiang Chuan looked at the moon and smiled, "Miss Lux, if I were you, I wouldn't say that."
Jiang Chuan snapped his fingers, and a burly man appeared before him. It was a man Lux was very familiar with. This person was none other than Garen.
Garen was on a mission in Noxus when he suddenly heard a snapping sound. In an instant, he found himself standing in front of his sister, with a strange, unfamiliar man staring at him.
Garen shielded the surprised Lux behind him and said to Jiang Chuan with his greatsword, "Who are you? What have you done to my sister!"
Jiang Chuan smiled, "Don't panic, I mean you no harm. You can go back now."
Jiang Chuan snapped his fingers again, and Garen disappeared in a flash of light.
Poor Garen was sent back less than a minute after appearing.
Jiang Chuan smiled, "Miss Lux, your brother was on a mission in Noxus just now, wasn't he? Now do you believe that summoning Darius is not just an empty boast?"
Lux recovered from her shock and looked at Jiang Chuan, saying calmly, "What is your purpose?"
Jiang Chuan shook his head, "I have no purpose. If you must find one, I need you to be my spokesperson in Demacia."
Lux shouted, "Don't even think about it! I will not betray my country."
Jiang Chuan smiled, "I'm not asking you to betray your country. I am a businessman. I need you to help me establish a connection with the Crownguard Family. I will also provide you with items to fight monsters. Essentially, this is a very profitable business deal."
Lux looked at Jiang Chuan doubtfully and asked, "Then why are you looking for me?"
Jiang Chuan looked at Lux's big blue eyes and said, "Because you are beautiful. That's one reason, I suppose."
Jiang Chuan's real reason was that he couldn't find anyone suitable. The only heroes in the Crownguard Family were Lux and Garen. Garen was a man of action; he would be excellent at charging into battle, but doing business? Forget it. After much thought, only Lux seemed appropriate. When Jiang Chuan wanted to assign tasks, a snap of his fingers would get them done, and Lux was a great beauty.
Lux looked at Jiang Chuan with disbelief, "That's it?"
Jiang Chuan looked shocked, "What else? Did you think there was some earth-shattering conspiracy?"
Lux couldn't find any flaws in Jiang Chuan's story, so she snorted and left. Lingering would only yield meaningless answers, so it was better to monitor Jiang Chuan from a distance.
After Lux left, Jiang Chuan collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily. Summoning two heroes at once was too much of a burden for him. The brief moment of summoning Garen and then dispelling the summon had exhausted all of Jiang Chuan's strength, leaving him feeling completely drained.
"It seems summoning and dispelling heroes is just a matter of my will. The inability to dispel them in the previous few times was probably because my injuries hadn't healed yet. Summoning two heroes is truly difficult, at least for me in my current state."
After regaining some strength while sitting on a chair, Jiang Chuan returned to the banquet and bid farewell to Koster. Koster had wanted Jiang Chuan to stay at the Crownguard Family's mansion, but Jiang Chuan refused, citing business matters.
Jiang Chuan went to the inn where Laurie and the others were staying. After giving them some instructions, he went upstairs to rest.
For the past few days, Jiang Chuan had been waiting for Koster's news at the inn. A week later, Koster sent word through an intermediary to Jiang Chuan: "Mr. Roland, the family heads have all arrived in White Cliff City. Could you bring your machine over this afternoon so we can see its effect?"
Jiang Chuan chuckled and said to his subordinates, "Today is the day we talk business. If this deal goes well, you'll all get a day off when we return to Bilgewater. Don't mess this up for me."
Laurie patted his chest and said, "Guild leader, don't worry. We've guarded the machine closely these past few days. There are no problems."
Jiang Chuan smiled, "Open it up and check it one more time, just to be safe."
After everyone checked it again and confirmed there were no issues, they set off for the jewelry store.
When Jiang Chuan and his entourage arrived at the jewelry store, Koster and Lux were both there. Koster introduced them, "Mr. Roland, this is my uncle, Gaster, from the Crownguard Family."
Jiang Chuan smiled, "Hello, Uncle. My name is Roland, and I'm from Bilgewater. We can find a mine to test my machine. This machine was designed specifically for mines."
Gaster said, "Mr. Roland, we are all prepared. Please, this way."
Jiang Chuan and his subordinates followed Gaster to a mine owned by the Crownguard Family in White Cliff City. Gaster smiled, "Mr. Roland, the rest is up to you."
After Jiang Chuan and his men had the steam engine set up, laid the tracks, and positioned the mine carts, he said, "Now you can have people fill the five carts with ore."
Koster waved his hand, and the miners in the pit filled the carts. Jiang Chuan then started the steam engine. The chain slowly pulled, and soon five mine carts, filled with ore, slowly appeared before everyone's eyes, stopping steadily in front of them.
Jiang Chuan smiled, "This machine can work non-stop, twenty-four hours a day. Its transport capacity at once is equivalent to that of more than ten workers. Moreover, it only requires one person to operate it, making it incredibly simple."
Gaster pondered for a moment and said, "Mr. Roland, I must say, your machine is very enticing. What is the price?"
Jiang Chuan held up five fingers and said, "Ten thousand gold coins and ten craftsmen. I believe it's worth this price."
Gaster frowned and thought for a moment before saying, "Alright, we Crownguards can accept this price. I think we can have a long-term cooperation. You give us the machine, and we'll help you sell it in Demacia. How about a sixty-forty split of the profits?"
Jiang Chuan smiled, "Mr. Gaster, that plan you mentioned might not be feasible yet. I currently only have this one machine. We could establish a trading company, whether under the Crownguard family's name or my personal name. I'll provide the goods, and you handle the sales. The steam engine is just one of the commodities. We can split the profits fifty-fifty, what do you think?"
Gaster smiled, "Of course, no problem, Mr. Roland. Your machine will cause quite a stir in Demacia. I'll have someone prepare the money for the machine. It will take about three days, and then we can deliver it to you."
Jiang Chuan smiled, "Then I thank you, Uncle. I have a small request, and I hope you will grant it."
Gaster smiled, "Just say it."
Jiang Chuan looked at Lux and said, "I hope Miss Lux can manage this trading company."
Gaster frowned, "Lux?"
Jiang Chuan said, "Miss Lux is very popular in Demacia. We can leverage her popularity to open up the market, which will save us a lot of trouble in the beginning."
Gaster smiled, "Let you young people discuss it then."
Jiang Chuan smiled, "Thank you, Uncle."
After Gaster and Jiang Chuan talked for a while, they returned to White Cliff City. Jiang Chuan pulled Lux aside and smiled, "Miss Lux, are you interested in managing a trading company?"
Lux said fiercely, "You must have some scheme! I won't let your scheme succeed!"
Jiang Chuan shook his head, "Are you really going to let go of an opportunity to supervise me? If you manage this company, the goods I send to Demacia will have to pass through your hands. Are you sure you don't want that?"
Lux lowered her head and said, "Then I'll agree to your request. I'll see through your tricks sooner or later, hmph~"
With that, Lux ran off, leaving Jiang Chuan alone and bewildered, "Lux is a tsundere? What kind of character is that?"
