Background / History

Laurie was formerly the Bloodfang Gang's deputy leader. He claimed that his opposition to the gang's child trafficking led to his demotion to squad leader, leaving him in command of subordinates who were largely uninvolved in the trafficking operation. When Jiang Chuan conquered Bloodfang Island, Laurie reported that roughly eight hundred gang members remained on the island. 7

After Kelly identified fifteen people connected to the trafficking, Jiang Chuan executed them while sparing Laurie. Laurie was then placed in charge of the island's defense and repairs, under an explicit threat of punishment should he betray the new leadership. He swore his loyalty to Jiang Chuan. 7 8

As Bloodfang Island developed into the Dark Sea Throne's base, Laurie became one of Jiang Chuan's principal administrators. He managed construction, recruitment, material transport, the captured casino, worker assignments, and reports on the island's finances and infrastructure. 10 20 21 26 31 48

Personality

Laurie initially acts out of fear and self-preservation. Faced with Jiang Chuan's summoned forces and the collapse of the Bloodfang Gang, he quickly submits and repeatedly seeks to prove that he is not an enemy. 7

Despite this fearful beginning, Laurie proves practical, adaptable, and dependable. He openly identifies staffing and construction problems, proposes workable solutions, and accepts increasingly demanding responsibilities. 8 20 21

He can also be ruthless when commanding armed forces. During the raid on the Iron Anchor Gang's casino, he used explosives to force compliance and personally killed a resisting gang member. 17
