Background

Aya was born into the Hyuga Clan's Branch Family and received the Caged Bird seal as a child. Once she understood that the mark symbolized her status as a slave to the Main Family, freedom became her defining ambition. She excelled at the Ninja Academy, but graduating sent her to the battlefield rather than toward the future she had hoped to earn. 124

War changed Aya from an optimistic child into a cold, pragmatic survivor. After losing teammates—including Kon—she concluded that survival was the only path toward changing her fate. She killed her first opponent at age twelve and resolved to break free from the destiny imposed on her. 124 575
