Background

Tsunade is the granddaughter of Senju Hashirama and Uzumaki Mito, as well as a student of the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen. Her younger brother, Nawaki, was killed by explosive-tag traps during the Second Shinobi World War. 3

Following the war, Tsunade became known as one of Konoha’s Sannin, but her losses left her withdrawn from medical work. She spent much of her time gambling and drinking, rarely visiting Konoha Hospital despite her unmatched medical reputation. 3 11

Beneath her gambling habit and desire to avoid work, Tsunade remains deeply protective of Konoha, the Senju legacy, and the people she considers family.
