Chapter Thirteen: Leading the Exploration

Lu Yuanming paid no mind to the pained expressions on the faces of those present.

Ultimately, the group was divided into two exploration teams. Lu Yuanming personally led one, while John led the other. At the same time, Lu Yuanming used two more Colorless Light Particles to create bullets, leaving him with only one last Colorless Light Particle as a trump card.

When condensing the bullets, Lu Yuanming had intended for them to have the same power as the original bullets for these firearms. As a result, one Colorless Light Particle produced twenty-one Rifle Bullets, while fifty-six Pistol Bullets were created. This made Lu Yuanming want to cry. How foolish had he been back then to waste several Colorless Light Particles?

Regardless, the teams were formed. Lu Yuanming's team consisted of four people: besides Lu Yuanming himself, there was Father Edward, the psychologist Cthulhu, and the slightly overweight former school janitor, Peter Gale. The other team comprised John, Tom, the noble family tutor Martha Julian, and the university student Ang.

When assigning teams, everyone unanimously rejected Tom's inclusion in Lu Yuanming's team. Their refusal was so obvious that Tom was completely speechless.

Lu Yuanming didn't care. After opening the Vault, he and John simultaneously rushed out of the Vault's Main Door. They immediately saw that the surroundings were in disarray. The walls and Stairwell, which had only been slightly old and damaged, had now almost completely turned into ruins. Many scratches also appeared on the Vault's metal wall, particularly one scratch that penetrated at least five millimeters deep into the metal wall. This scratch was also far longer and wider than the others, clearly left by the ten-meter-long Man-faced Dog.

This power was terrifying. To leave a five-millimeter-deep nail scratch on a Pure Alloy wall meant it had definitely surpassed the category of wild beasts.

Everyone's hearts sank as they saw this. Fortunately, only one such powerful Monster had been discovered so far. As long as their luck wasn't extremely bad, its size would allow them to see and avoid it in advance.

Lu Yuanming didn't say much more. They had discussed various situations as much as possible in the Vault. Now, Lu Yuanming's team set off first, with John's team following closely behind. Both teams were armed with firearms, which was their greatest confidence for venturing out.

After the two teams, a total of eight people, left, the remaining people immediately closed the Vault. Only children and women were left here, with no resistance against Monsters.

Upon arriving outside the bank, Lu Yuanming looked at the psychologist Cthulhu. Cthulhu immediately said, "Sir, please follow me. I am quite familiar with this area and know of a Supermarket and a Boutique Supermarket. There are also some Small Shops along the way, which should have Food and fresh water. However, this area is mostly wide avenues and tall buildings, making it difficult for us to hide if we encounter Monsters."

Lu Yuanming already had a plan. Searching was real, and killing Monsters was also real. So, he said, "Let's proceed as planned. We need to kill these Monsters, and we also need to search for supplies and people. If we kill Monsters, we can try to cut the Dog Hindquarters meat from them. I will try eating it. If it's edible, then everyone can eat it. This will also be a source of Food."

Everyone was shocked, and Father Edward was already weeping, constantly chanting Lord's Mercy.

Lu Yuanming was too lazy to pay attention. The reason he dared to say he would try eating it first was that he could return to his Original Body every seventy-two hours. He wasn't afraid even if he was poisoned or cursed. Thinking about how his lower body was almost gone the last time he returned, having lost so much blood, bone, and flesh, yet it healed perfectly, clearly showed that the physical body held extraordinary significance for the soul.

Lu Yuanming didn't speak. He followed behind Cthulhu, with Father Edward and the school janitor Peter Gale also following.

As they walked, Peter suddenly said, "Lord, I have a suggestion that is difficult to speak of."

"Call me by my name, and you can speak freely. We are comrades now, so you don't need to be so reserved," Lu Yuanming replied.

Peter looked troubled, and Father Edward looked at him with the gaze of someone who believed all rebels wanted to harm the Lord. Peter couldn't help it and said, "Lord, have you never used firearms before?"

Lu Yuanming confirmed, "Yes, I have never used them. This Pistol belongs to that White Police Officer who framed me. He's dead, and only then did I get this weapon."

Peter said earnestly, "Lord, my father trained me with firearms since I was young. He often took me hunting. I have hunted Deer, wolves, and Bears. I am quite proficient with firearms. If you trust me, Lord, could you let me use this Pistol? I will definitely protect you and practice Your Way."

Lu Yuanming hesitated. At this moment, Father Edward directly roared in a low voice, "Peter, what exactly do you want to do!? Do you want to take away the Lord's weapon and betray the Lord!?"

Peter waved his hands in panic, trembling slightly. After a slight hesitation, Lu Yuanming turned the Pistol upside down and pointed the grip at Peter, saying, "Then we will entrust our safety to you."

Peter was first stunned, then his eyes widened, and finally, tears appeared in his eyes. He immediately bowed deeply, "Lord, I will surely practice Your Way and let Your Kingdom come to this land, just as it is in heaven!"

Father Edward opened his mouth as if to say something, but seeing Lu Yuanming's composed expression, he felt both moved and helpless. He could only continue to move forward with the team.

The psychologist Cthulhu had watched the entire event. He had been trying to analyze Lu Yuanming with his knowledge, as he both hoped Lu Yuanming was the Messiah and wanted to expose Lu Yuanming as a fraud. However, as time passed, he found that Lu Yuanming had actually confessed everything. Perhaps a small portion of his privacy remained untold, but based on his words, actions, and expressions, Lu Yuanming seemed to have revealed almost everything, which was something Cthulhu had never expected.

Lu Yuanming's hesitation just now wasn't due to worry about what Peter would do after getting the gun. From the information Cthulhu had analyzed, it seemed more like Lu Yuanming had other ideas.

Lu Yuanming's idea was actually very simple: he was worried that if he didn't kill the monsters, he wouldn't be able to absorb the White Light Particles. However, given the current situation, bullets were limited, and he had to arrange everything reasonably and ensure sustainable development. Therefore, even if he couldn't obtain the White Light Particles after the monsters died, he decided to give the pistol to Peter. This slightly overweight man, who didn't give up on his two children even in dire straits, would not abandon Lu Yuanming, who trusted him, for no reason.

The journey along the way was silent. The surrounding houses, shops, and even the roads were all in a state of disrepair and dilapidation. When they passed two buildings that resembled small convenience stores, they found no supplies inside, only broken furniture and the like, which further depressed everyone. Fortunately, with Lu Yuanming as the core support, they continued on their way towards the Supermarket.

As everyone was about to reach the Supermarket, they suddenly heard the clamor, screams, and various chaotic noises from the crowd ahead. They looked at each other and immediately quickened their pace towards the source of the sound.

Then, Lu Yuanming saw an open space ahead. At the entrance of a dilapidated Supermarket, in what should have been a parking lot, hundreds of Humans were in extreme chaos.

There was a group of Human-sized spiders, ferocious and terrifying in appearance. They were attacking the Humans, paralyzing them with their stingers, and then immediately wrapping them in white Spider Silk. The spiders then began to attack the remaining people. There were at least thirty such spiders.

Among the hundreds of Humans, a very small number held Metal Rods or Rebar Concrete Sticks, attacking the spiders with red eyes. However, more people were scattering or fleeing directly, making it impossible for these brave individuals to form a formation or any organization. This allowed the spiders to thrive in the chaos, continuously attacking Humans and wrapping them into white cocoons.

This was the scene Lu Yuanming and his group witnessed. The companions accompanying them all looked at him. Lu Yuanming said without hesitation, "Attack the spiders. Father Edward, please go and comfort those who are fleeing. Dr. Cthulhu, please assist the Father."

The scene at the Supermarket was chaotic, and no one noticed the arrival of Lu Yuanming and his group until a gunshot rang out. A faint white Bullet trace cut through the air, piercing the mouthparts of a spider that was about to pounce on the crowd. It fell to the ground, trembling violently, and then slowly stopped moving.

Lu Yuanming then saw a mass of White Light Particles, about half the amount from a Man-faced Dog. One-tenth of these White Light Particles floated towards him and merged into his body.

All the Humans in the chaos instinctively looked in their direction. Peter fired again, piercing the mouthparts of another spider.

After this shot, the chaotic crowd erupted in cheers, cries, and the sound of footsteps running towards Lu Yuanming's team.
