Appearance
Colorless Light Particles are about the size of a fingernail. They are semi-transparent and colorless, yet give off a sense of light 7.
- They float near Lu Yuanming, following him within roughly half a meter 7.
- They feel like a bubble or plastic film to the touch but do not break when handled or chewed 7.
- They differ visibly from the white particles released when monsters die 7.
Origin
Eleven particles first appeared around Lu Yuanming in the Dark Matter World while his family burned joss paper money and wished for him to wake up. He suspected a connection, but did not establish whether the ritual itself was necessary 7 14 15.
Lu Yuanming later described the particles as wishes, beliefs, and faith; he considered them a manifestation of perceptions from the material world becoming power in the Dark Matter World 18 25 27. After attracting more attention, he found 31 particles on one return to the Dark Matter World and 207 on a later return. Following his rescue of people from monster fields, he observed another two to three hundred around his Soul Body 15 25 49.
Abilities & Uses
Materialization
A particle can turn Lu Yuanming's thoughts into tangible objects. The amount it produces is limited rather than infinite, and the objects can be used or eaten 7 18.
- Food and water: His first experiments produced mineral water, tea, and prepared meals. He later made bread and bottled water for survivors and potatoes for cultivation 7 10 15.
- Ammunition: He made a single powerful bullet before realizing he could instead specify ordinary-strength ammunition. One particle subsequently yielded either 21 rifle bullets or 56 pistol bullets 7 9 13.
- Production equipment: He created a large lathe that his organization used to manufacture armor components 25 26.
Healing and Protection
- Pressing a particle onto a wounded person can heal injuries; Lu Yuanming first tested this on a dying MXG Gang member 17 18.
- His Soul Body healed a critically injured police officer with a particle. A wider release of light later healed injuries, regenerated limbs, and reversed mutations among patients in a ward 39 49.
- The particles protected Lu Yuanming from harm associated with seeing Unnamable entities. He did not know whether they could protect others from that informational erosion, or whether such protection would persist after the particles were depleted 31 49.
- He used their light to protect an exploration team from mutations inside a residual field 50.
Combat Enhancement
Lu Yuanming can absorb particles for a temporary increase in physical ability and reaction speed 34.

After returning to his material-world body on one occasion, Lu Yuanming did not feel the weakness or soul-tearing effects associated with particle absorption in the Dark Matter World 36.
Distinction from Other Light Particles
- White Light Particles are obtained from slain monsters and strengthen Lu Yuanming's soul. They are visibly different from Colorless Light Particles 6 7 14.
- Gray Light Clusters can impart a distorted phenomenon to an item; the cluster obtained from a Super Giant Spider was later identified as an Order Fragment 25 32.
