News of Pipim successfully evolving into a Dragonborn Slime spread through their collective consciousness, and the slimes instantly went into a collective orgasm as if they'd fucked a dog.
This temporary Silver Dragon nest had now become the slimes' personal feast of sea and sky.
Even though the odds of evolving into a Dragonborn Slime were less than one in ten thousand, and failure meant going "splat" and exploding into a puddle of tissue fluid, slimes naturally had few pain receptors. And when their dragon blood contamination went berserk, not only did they die without pain, but the instant they were blown apart by the rampant magic within the dragon blood, they experienced an alternative kind of pleasure they couldn't get enough of.
More importantly, slimes were creatures with a collective consciousness. When they died within a certain range, their thoughts and memories would be "uploaded" into that collective consciousness. To them, that was a form of reincarnation, or even immortality.
If they could live themselves to death in bliss, leave with dignity, then "revive" and keep having fun, with even a chance of becoming the noble Slime Lord, why not?
As for whether slimes might go extinct at this death rate, one only had to look at the pitiful Koutao Fishmen, amphibians forced out to make a living in the wastelands.
As slimes that could reproduce endlessly through hermaphroditic reproduction, parthenogenesis, asexual reproduction, and even mitosis as long as they had food, the sight of at least a ton of slime tissue fluid mixed with dragon blood in the cave sent this group of shameless little drivers blasting their vehicle straight into the Astral Plane.
Especially when Li Wei saw one utterly uninhibited slime drink dragon blood, then stare blankly as it laid eggs into the air with repeated "puff puff puff puff" sounds like fireworks, he silently lowered his head, deeply feeling that he was completely out of place among these slimes because he simply wasn't perverted enough.
Perhaps sensing that some bloody scenes were about to unfold and fearing his entire race would be banished, Pipim rushed before Li Wei. He forcibly stretched his round body into an oval shape and, like a marmot in some GIF, shouted furiously at his own kin in disappointment:
"Mu yi yi yi yi!"
To Li Wei's surprise, this childish roar was absurdly effective. He could even sense a trace of something similar to his own [Ferocious Presence] (Dragon Might).
After hearing the furious shout, the slimes in the nest acted like johns who had spotted vice cops. All entertainment activities came to an abrupt halt, and they each returned to looking refined and well-behaved.
Especially after seeing Li Wei, this "oversized slime," they all prostrated themselves in unison at Pipim's signal, crying "Mu yi, mu yi," as though worshipping their new king—if only their voices had not been as chaotic as a marketplace.
Watching this, Li Wei silently raised a claw and scratched the slightly itchy scales on his forehead.
He had never imagined that the first followers he gained after transmigrating into a Silver Dragon would appear so suddenly.
And they—or perhaps it would be more accurate to call them that—were actually a fucking group of slimes. Could you believe it???
"If word of this gets out someday, the other dragons will probably laugh their teeth out."
"But since they came knocking, I might as well take them. Even if they're useless, they can at least serve as reserve food when prey is hard to catch. These traitors aren't anything good—they were even plotting to burst me to death before! If I hadn't been clever enough, hmph."
With that thought, Li Wei expanded back into his Silver Dragon form and looked over these frail little things. To his surprise, during the half day he had spent out hunting, more than a dozen evolved Silver Slimes had been born among them. But aside from spitting out some Dry Ice Frost Breath capable of freezing stinking fish and rotten shrimp stiff, they seemed useless after evolving.
Li Wei paced back and forth beneath the increasingly reverent and curious gazes of the slimes. After thinking it over, he decided to first see whether he could establish some simple communication with these brainless little creatures—literally brainless.
"You! Yes, you! Go catch fish like this."
Li Wei picked up half a rotten Fathead Fish from the ground and pointed at a seemingly clever Silver Slime in the group as he gave the order.
The Silver Slime froze for a moment. After confirming Li Wei was talking to it, its round head looked around everywhere. Finding nothing, it lowered its gaze, only to suddenly notice that there was still half a fish head in its stomach that had not been fully digested. Its round eyes lit up.
It immediately vomited out a puddle of tissue fluid. Slimes had no dedicated excretory organs; everything went in and out through one mouth.
Then, as though offering up a precious treasure, it held the rotten fish head—looking as though it had been censored—high above its head with its two protruding little tentacles and cried excitedly:
"Mu yi~"
Smack!
That brainless little idiot was sent flying with a single slap from Li Wei, who was so furious he was nearly vomiting blood.
"You! You're in charge of watering this moss!" This time, Li Wei picked another slime.
But before the slime that had been singled out could realize Li Wei was calling for it, the slime he had slapped away wriggled back over and excitedly vomited half a sheet of seaweed in front of Li Wei.
Smack!
Just as Li Wei was about to shut down from anger and prepare to drive off these useless weaklings, the somewhat smarter Pipim twisted his way before him and gave several cries of "Mu yi."
Li Wei, already disappointed beyond measure, was astonished to discover that the dozen or so evolved Silver Slimes slowly gathered around Pipim, then fused together as though the walls of their cytoplasm had vanished.
Seeing this, Li Wei wondered, A slime is still a slime. Could turning into a bigger slime somehow make it grow a brain or—huh???
But before the thought had even fully formed, he was slapped in the face by reality the next second.
The large Silver Slime formed by the fusion slowly transformed into something Li Wei found extremely familiar, accompanied by the heartbroken cries of the slime that had been slapped away and failed to catch up.
"Guga."
Li Wei raised a claw, glanced at the Koutao Fishman in it whose eyes remained open in death, then looked at the lifelike Koutao Fishman in the cave, distinguished only by the two protruding silver cluster-horns on its head. He said, one word at a time:
"True. Polymorph."
After a long while, Li Wei slowly curled his lips into a grin and chuckled softly. "This was getting interesting."
PS: Some readers have complained about frequently seeing typos. EMMMM, some really are typos, so if you spot any, please leave a comment on the chapter or a review to let me know. I'll fix them when I see them. But some are intentionally misspelled "substitute characters." As for why, everyone understands. Looking at that precariously swaying 404 in the sky, I'm trembling with fear.
