Background / History

Trunks arrives from the future shortly after Jiang Ling defeats Frieza and King Cold. Carrying Capsule Corporation-branded supplies and a greatsword, he initially refuses to explain his identity or knowledge of Goku's imminent return. Jiang Ling recognizes him as Vegeta and Bulma's son from the future, startling Trunks and exposing how Jiang Ling's presence has altered the timeline. 18

After Goku returns, Trunks privately warns him that powerful Androids will devastate Earth in approximately three years. He tests Goku's strength in a Super Saiyan sparring match, but concedes defeat and earns Goku's respect. 19

Rather than immediately return to his own era, Trunks seeks Jiang Ling's help for his ruined future world. The two use Trunks' Time Machine to travel there and reunite with Future Bulma at the resistance's underground base. 20

Jiang Ling introduces Trunks to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, where they train together for three years. Trunks focuses on improving his base strength before transforming, learns Super Saiyan - Full Power, and becomes determined to protect both his mother and the surviving human population. 21 22

When Evil Androids 17 and 18 resume their attacks, Trunks joins Jiang Ling in confronting them at the Pingcheng Ruins.
