Background / History

During the battle on Namek, Goku fought Frieza and became a Super Saiyan. After Namek's explosion, his friends feared that he had died, but Porunga confirmed that he was alive; Goku refused to be transferred to Earth because he was still training on another planet. 3 7

Goku returned to Earth after Future Trunks arrived. He sparred Trunks in Super Saiyan form and won, then accepted the warning that powerful Androids would attack in roughly three years. 19

Before the Android conflict, Jiang Ling brought Future Chi-Chi from another timeline to Mount Paozu. Goku learned that he and Gohan had died in that future, giving him further reason to prepare. 28 29

During the Android crisis, Goku concealed a flare-up of his heart condition from the others and took the medicine supplied through Trunks' warning. 33 Later, Cell attacked Mount Paozu and nearly killed Chi-Chi, Future Chi-Chi, and Gohan.
