As the two of them enjoyed their private time together, all lovey-dovey and sneaking around, a discordant voice shattered their peace.
"Bang, bang! Bang, bang!"
"Hey, Wuneng! I've prepared some of Fried Bread Mountain's famous roast meat for you. Come out and eat!"
Ox King gazed at the door before him, his expression complicated.
His feelings toward Son Wuneng were a tangled mess. On one hand, Wuneng was a martial arts master who had defeated him; on the other, he was a junior in the family.
Respect and affection surged within him, and he couldn't help wanting to get closer to Wuneng.
"Such an impressive young man. I wonder if there's any chance for me, old Ox..."
"Heh heh heh..."
The image was so beautiful he hardly dared to imagine it.
"I wonder when that girl Chichi will be back. I hope she doesn't miss this!"
He happily pictured Son Wuneng respectfully pouring him a drink in the future, and his imagination ran wild.
"Hey, Uncle Ox, what are you standing there spacing out for?"
Son Wuneng and Bulma came out together. Neither of them looked particularly cheerful, only to find a huge "pervert" standing there with a silly grin!
"Oh! You're here! Heh heh, heh heh!"
After an awkward couple of chuckles, he hurriedly changed the subject.
"I made some roast meat. Let's all have some. With the Flying Nimbus, they'll be back in less than half a day!"
If anyone there knew the Flying Nimbus well, it was Ox King. At full speed, the Nimbus was practically lightning-fast; it was just that most people couldn't ride it.
Son Wuneng and Bulma exchanged a glance, then readily accepted Ox King's invitation.
Once the food was nearly ready, all three took their seats.
It had to be said: Ox King might have been a hulking, fearsome-looking man, but he certainly had refined tastes.
He called it roast meat, but the table was laden with all kinds of dishes—fried, grilled, braised, and stir-fried, with fish, meat, eggs, and dairy.
He even took two bottles of decanted red wine out of a Hoi-Poi Capsule!
As the wine flowed in a gentle stream into the elegant stemmed glasses, Son Wuneng stared in amazement.
"Wait, you?!"
"What a guy!"
No wonder Ox King was considered a tycoon. Just look at the burning castle on the mountain, then at the lavish feast before them. There was only one way to describe it: extravagant!
"Heh heh, it's just a small gift. Please, have a seat!"
Ox King had changed clothes by now. He adjusted his overalls and invited the two of them to sit down.
With the delicious food to tempt them, the two of them finally cheered up a little.
Bulma picked up a glass of red wine and took a small sip.
"Hey, Uncle, you've got good taste. This thirty-year-old wine from the Finébol Winery is hardly ever sold on the market anymore."
"Even my dad only got a dozen bottles after buying a stake in the winery at a high price."
She praised Ox King with flushed cheeks, a hint of surprise in her eyes.
"Heh heh, well, to be honest, I don't really understand all this foreign stuff. A group of people came by more than twenty years ago, trying to steal my treasure. I killed them and found these in their luggage."
"Pfft!"
Bulma regretted bragging the moment the words left her mouth. Now, looking at the thick red liquid in her glass, she found it more and more unappealing.
Son Wuneng secretly gave Ox King a thumbs-up. Now that was someone worthy of the title "King"!
"..."
"Grrr..."
"Young Master Yamcha!"
"I'm so hungry. I really want something to eat!"
"Grrr..."
"Hey, Puar! A true warrior doesn't give in to his body! We have to overcome our bodily instincts with a will of steel! We absolutely cannot let our bodies control us!"
"Grrr... x2..."
"This is torture!"
Yamcha stared miserably at the lavish feast not far away. It was right there in front of him, yet felt worlds away!
"Didn't Young Master Yamcha say that people were iron and food was steel?"
Puar was swallowing hard too. The two of them hadn't had a proper meal in ages.
Who would've thought that they'd once been so well-fed and well-clothed? In just a few short days, their grand home had fallen apart.
If the two of them didn't eat soon, they were liable to crumble into pieces.
"Grrr..."
Silence settled over Cambridge that night...
"Puar, come with me!"
After struggling once more to resist his instinct to eat, Yamcha—whose mouth was tougher than his backbone—had no choice but to surrender to his body.
He stopped talking about a will of steel, and the pair doubled back to where the Great Dinosaur had died.
Although Chichi had just blown the huge dinosaur to pieces, its massive size meant that some remains had been left behind.
Desperate with hunger, the two had no choice but to use it to replenish their energy.
A long while later, just as Puar thought he was about to meet his great-grandma in the afterlife, Yamcha finally finished cooking the dinosaur meat.
They didn't care how terrible it looked or how hot it was. The two of them wolfed it down.
"Huh? Why are there two beggars down there? They look kind of familiar!"
Chichi, riding the Flying Nimbus back, spotted some familiar figures below and asked Son Goku in surprise.
"Hey, Goku-san, I know that big brother! He's missing a bunch of teeth, and he looks silly when he smiles!"
Her clear, childish voice rang through the sky without a hint of restraint. Below, Yamcha and Puar were busy stuffing their faces with meat. They stiffened, then looked toward the sound.
To their surprise, they saw two of the people they least wanted to run into right now!
In that instant, the meat in their hands lost all its flavor. All they wanted was to dig a hole and bury themselves in it.
"They do look kind of familiar!"
Son Goku replied, surprised.
"I feel like I've seen them somewhere before, but it doesn't matter! We have to hurry and show Master Roshi the way. Let's go!"
"Whoosh!"
A streak of dusky yellow flashed by as the two sped away.
But before the pair could even finish dropping their jaws in astonishment, they saw something else that left them dumbfounded.
"Puar, am I seeing things? There's a giant sea turtle flying in the sky!"
"Mm-hmm, and it looks like there's an old man standing on it!"
Puar nodded in agreement.
Yamcha suddenly remembered Ox King asking Son Goku and his brother for help earlier.
"Could that be the reinforcements Monkey Boy called for?"
"Master Roshi... Master Mutaito!"
The name seemed familiar. Where had he heard it before?
Yamcha slapped his head and thought hard, but still couldn't figure it out.
"Puar, let's hurry up and eat. Once we're done, I want to see how they put out the fire!"
