Ji Yun was overjoyed and strode forward.

That was exactly what he had wanted. He hadn't expected the Great Elder to bring it up himself. It couldn't have worked out better.

"Thank you, Great Elder!"

Ji Yun walked up to the Great Elder and thanked him.

The Great Elder smiled and nodded, then placed his hand on Ji Yun's head.

Time passed, second by second.

Ji Yun didn't feel any change in his body and was deeply puzzled.

"Whew, you have far too much potential in your body. I may not be able to draw it all out!"

The Great Elder spoke slowly.

Ji Yun felt a little disappointed. He'd thought it would be easy, but it seemed that wasn't the case after all.

"However, I can help you draw out some of it. You'll have to rely on yourself for the rest." The Great Elder paused, then continued.

Ji Yun felt as if his body had suddenly been stretched upward.

A cool sensation flowed continuously through his blood.

His muscles and bones also felt more comfortable than ever before.

"That's enough, child!"

The Great Elder lifted his hand and spoke to Ji Yun.

"Thank you, Great Elder!"

Ji Yun thanked him again, overcome with excitement.

He realized that the ki within him had doubled. In other words, his battle power had doubled.

It had risen straight from eight million to sixteen million.

And that was only a portion of his potential. Just how terrifying would he be if it were all unlocked?

No wonder Krillin had been so excited in the original story.

How could anyone not be thrilled after suddenly gaining so much ki?

"You two, come over as well!"

The Great Elder addressed Goku and Piccolo.

Seeing the delighted look on Ji Yun's face, Goku hurried forward without a moment's hesitation.

As their companion, Ji Yun was genuinely happy for them.

"Don't get too excited yet. An enemy is coming!"

Nail addressed everyone with a grave expression.

Ji Yun had noticed as well.

The approaching enemy wasn't very strong, so he hadn't paid much attention.

As soon as Nail finished speaking,

a voice shouted from outside.

"Everyone inside, listen up! Get out here and prepare to die!"

The speaker was Zarbon, one of Frieza's men.

Using his scouter, he had pinpointed their location and followed them all the way here.

"Another fool come to die?"

Ji Yun said lazily.

Goku, Piccolo, and the others appeared at the same time.

Nail stayed by the Great Elder's side, ready to protect him in case anything happened.

"Were you the ones who killed Dodoria?" Zarbon demanded.

"I did it. So what? Do you want to join him?"

Ji Yun replied without backing down.

According to the readings on Zarbon's scouter, the others had battle powers of only a few thousand.

He looked down on them. He couldn't imagine how Dodoria had managed to lose to this bunch.

"Heh. Don't think that just because you killed Dodoria, you're any match for me."

Zarbon sneered, his eyes full of contempt.

Dodoria must have been careless, or these people had caught him by surprise.

Otherwise, Dodoria would have been strong enough to crush every one of them.

"Looks like you can't wait to join your companion. Let me send you on your way!"

Ji Yun said with a faint smile, eyeing Zarbon flippantly.

"Hey, Ji Yun, let me handle this one! I haven't fought in ages!"

Goku stepped right in front of Ji Yun and stared eagerly at Zarbon.

Ever since Ji Yun had appeared, Goku had hardly been involved in any of the fights.

Now that his power had surged, Goku had regained his confidence and was determined to fight.

"Enough talk. This guy's mine. Nobody touches him!"

Piccolo waved a large hand and spoke without giving an inch.

He had been holding back for a long time, too.

He needed a good, satisfying fight to vent the restlessness inside him!

"No, Piccolo! I called dibs first, so I have to take him down!"

Goku insisted, arguing his case.

Piccolo said, "No. I'll do it."

And so, the two began arguing over a single enemy.

Zarbon stood off to the side, his blue face darkening to black.

What was this supposed to mean? Did he look that weak? Did he look like some easy target? Like someone they could bully?

He was one of King Frieza's most capable subordinates.

Now they were fighting over who got to take him on. It was a complete insult.

"Shut up, you worthless trash! Both of you, come at me together!"

Zarbon pointed at them and roared.

Goku and Piccolo exchanged glances. In this situation, they had no choice but to do just that.

Ji Yun glanced at Zarbon with sympathy.

He silently prayed for him.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

The two of them shot toward Zarbon at lightning speed.

Zarbon clearly hadn't expected them to move so fast and was caught completely off guard.

The next moment,

they attacked from both sides, leaving Zarbon no chance to fight back.

Perhaps because they had just received such a huge boost,

they still hadn't gotten precise control over their strength.

Thud!

There was a dull thump.

Both of them struck Zarbon in the head at the same time.

Then Zarbon crashed heavily to the ground, his eyes wide as saucers and webbed with crimson blood vessels.

Ji Yun patted his forehead helplessly.

At the same time, his expression turned serious. He pointed in a certain direction and spoke in a low voice.

"Over there. There's a stronger enemy. That's our real target."

With that, his body turned into a shooting star and streaked toward the horizon.
