The Boy from the Future

The boy was also studying Ji Yun intently.

The two stared at each other while everyone else watched closely, intensely curious about the boy's identity.

But inside, the boy's thoughts were in turmoil.

"What on earth is going on?"

"I've never seen this man before. Why doesn't Goku know about Super Saiyans?"

"If that's true, then the future is doomed!"

Seeing that the boy still hadn't said a word, Goku shook his shoulder. "Hey, what's wrong? You said you knew. So, what is it?"

The boy suddenly came to his senses, his eyes full of confusion. He spoke dazedly. "My name is Trunks. I'm from the future. My mind's a complete blank right now. I don't know what to do!"

Trunks's words shocked everyone.

"What? From the future? You've got to be kidding!"

Ji Yun smiled mysteriously.

It seemed that his appearance had completely thrown Trunks's judgment off.

"It's all right, Trunks. I believe you."

"If you came here from the future, then something must have happened."

"Just tell us what's going on. We'll see if we can think of a way to help."

Ji Yun spoke slowly.

Of course, he knew why Trunks had come.

But Trunks looked utterly bewildered, so Ji Yun figured he should guide him a little.

"Haah!"

The boy let out a heavy sigh. In a barely audible voice, he said, "It seems time really is irreversible. I was too naive!"

Trunks's words left everyone utterly confused.

"Just tell us what's going on. Maybe we can help you."

"And even if we can't, we still have Ji Yun, don't we? He's really strong!"

Krillin stepped forward with a smile.

Trunks looked at everyone, then turned his gaze to Goku.

His expression grew complicated as he looked at Goku. He had come here specifically to ask Goku for help.

But Goku was far too weak as he was now. Trunks figured he could knock him out with a single punch.

Then he looked at Ji Yun, and his heart suddenly jolted.

"Sir, could I speak with you somewhere private?"

Trunks addressed Ji Yun respectfully.

Ji Yun gave a small nod, and the two flew to the other side of the mountain.

"May I ask, sir, how do you know about Super Saiyans?"

Trunks asked earnestly.

He could sense that the changes to history had been caused by the man standing before him.

There had never been anyone like him in the future!

"That's easy. I'm a Saiyan too."

Ji Yun narrowed his eyes and answered calmly.

"T-that's impossible! How could..."

Trunks stammered in shock.

Everything had gone wrong. It was completely out of control. He must have traveled to a different universe.

This definitely wasn't the past of his own world.

"All right, hurry up and tell me what's going on. I'm busy."

Ji Yun spoke impatiently. After all that rambling, would Trunks just get to the point already?

If he didn't, Ji Yun was going to have to tell him himself.

"Fine. I came here to find Uncle Goku."

Trunks steadied himself and slowly explained why he had come.

He also told Ji Yun everything: the androids who would appear in the future, how all the powerful fighters on Earth would be slaughtered, and how Goku would die young.

"That's what happened. But this timeline is completely different from the one I know."

Trunks said regretfully.

He had hoped Goku could resolve the android crisis in the past and, indirectly, save the future.

Unfortunately, that plan was doomed to fail.

Looking at the dejected Trunks, Ji Yun couldn't help but feel for him.

When he'd watched Dragon Ball before, he'd always felt that Trunks had it especially rough.

The burden of the future rested entirely on his shoulders.

People even joked that his name should be "Tough Trunks," because the future was just too tough!

But even if Ji Yun hadn't appeared, and they only destroyed the androids in this timeline, the androids in the future wouldn't disappear. The moment Trunks traveled through space to the past, time had already split into two separate timelines.

"By the way, Mr. Ji Yun, everyone said you were strong."

"Were you the one who defeated all those enemies on Earth?"

Trunks asked Ji Yun.

Ji Yun had said that he was a Saiyan too, so he must be able to become a Super Saiyan.

Perhaps Trunks could pin his hopes on him.

Seeing Ji Yun's confident expression, Trunks believed him without a doubt.

Trunks said firmly.

Ji Yun paused, then smiled. "I don't mind fighting, but I'll pass on transforming. I'm afraid my power might get out of hand and hurt you!"

But the smile on his face was awkward.

That was because he still couldn't become a Super Saiyan.

Saiyans needed to feel anger in order to transform.

Ji Yun was cheerful every day, so getting angry wasn't easy for him.

"Fine, Mr. Ji Yun. Be careful!"

Trunks's gaze sharpened, and an overwhelming aura burst from him.

His body was enveloped in golden flames, and his straight hair stood on end in an instant.

His eyes turned pale blue, and he stared at Ji Yun with a piercing gaze.

Seeing this, Ji Yun sighed inwardly. So this is the legendary Super Saiyan—no, the Super Saiyan! Damn, that's cool!

As the thought crossed his mind, a powerful aura burst from him as well.

He activated Ten Times Kaio-ken once more, and red flames appeared around him.

Golden and red light shone side by side.
