This crossbow required at least two or three operators to fire.

Its main body had a sturdy support frame. It appeared to be iron-clad wood, but magic runes were engraved across it.

The front was square, with a spring torsion assembly mounted on each side.

Each spring assembly drove a crossbow arm, and the ends of the two arms were connected by a bowstring.

At the center of the bowstring was a woven net pouch for holding projectiles.

The crossbow's main beam featured a long dovetail groove.

A slider fitted with a long guide rail could move back and forth along the groove.

Behind the slider was an intricate firing mechanism that conveniently locked and released the bowstring.

A winch was mounted at the very end of the beam. The operator could turn its handle, using ropes and fixed pulleys to pull the slider. Once the firing mechanism locked the bowstring and drew it back, the crossbow was ready to fire.

To make the winch easier to operate, metal ratchets were fitted on both sides of the beam. Not only did this mean the crossbow did not need to be drawn in a single motion, but it also allowed the launching force to be adjusted, thereby controlling the required range.
