"Impossible! Bayer? When did he reach the Paragon level?"
Augusta couldn't help but exclaim, his previously smug face twisted into a mask of immense shock, his eyes filled with disbelief.
Just moments ago, as the Twelve-Winged Angel formation continued its relentless advance, a sudden change occurred: a figure clad in green robes had abruptly manifested on the side of the Water Elemental Plane.
The newcomer had white eyebrows and white hair, his fair skin devoid of any beard, and his slender hands appeared somewhat delicate, yet his eyes were filled with a cold, bloodthirsty killing intent.
It was none other than the Wind-Blood Fiend who had once roamed Hell, the second Sovereign Envoy of the Sovereign of Water, Hope, known as Bayer.
The existence of Bayer was no stranger to the many Sovereigns; after all, roughly a billion years ago, when the Sovereign of Water, Hope, took him as a Sovereign Envoy, Bayer had only possessed the strength of a Seven-Star Fiend.
The Sovereign of Water had eight slots for Sovereign Envoys, but for many years, aside from Palhouse, he had never taken on any others, so the news of his new envoy had quickly spread throughout the circle of Sovereigns.
However, no one had expected that Bayer would actually break through to become a Paragon, leaving the Sovereigns momentarily stunned.
Bayer's appearance was so swift that those on the Plane Battlefield hadn't even seen him clearly, but to the eyes of the Sovereigns, everything was exceptionally distinct; Bayer had clearly used Willpower to dash into the center of the Star River Passage.
"Hope, this is already your second Paragon envoy, isn't it? How on earth did you do it? From Palhouse to this Bayer, could it be that you possess some method to help others break through to the Paragon level?"
The Sovereign of Death's mouth hung slightly open, momentarily dazed. She had naturally considered what kind of trump cards Hope might have prepared, but she had never imagined it would be another Paragon Highgod.
Paragon Highgods numbered fewer than ten across all the Divine Planes; how could one not be astonished that Hope had managed to recruit two of them in succession?
Years ago, when Hope's Sovereign Envoy Palhouse broke through to the Paragon level and defeated the Twelve-Winged Angel on the Plane Battlefield, causing Oufu to lose a chance to obtain Willpower, many Sovereigns had grown wary of Hope.
It was also that time that restrictions on Paragons were added to the Sovereign Covenant, rendering Palhouse unable to intervene again. Yet, times had changed, and this time, Hope had a new Paragon Highgod: Bayer.
"Hope, how exactly did he do it?"
Veins throbbed on Augusta's forehead as if he were on the verge of a rampage, his fists clenching instinctively.
Augusta also had a Paragon Sovereign Envoy, the Light Paragon Clementine, but he hadn't used him this time because Augusta was reluctant to do so, intending to save Clementine's chance to act until after the Celestial Realm achieved nine consecutive victories. Moreover, Augusta had felt the Twelve-Winged Angel was sufficient to stop Hope, never expecting it to be broken by Bayer.
Augusta couldn't fathom how Hope discovered Highgods with the aptitude to become Paragons. Over the years, Augusta had cycled through many Sovereign Envoys, none of whom could break through to the Paragon level. His only Paragon envoy, Clementine, had only been met after he had already achieved that status.
Clementine becoming Augusta's envoy was purely a matter of Augusta's good luck; after Clementine clashed with the son of a Thunder Sovereign, the Thunder Sovereign used it as an excuse to force Clementine into servitude, only for Augusta to discover and intervene, thereby gaining Clementine as an envoy.
In contrast, Hope seemed to foresee the future. Palhouse was discovered by Hope during his Midgod stage and taken as a Sovereign Envoy during his Seven-Star Fiend stage. Hope had once saved Palhouse's life, so Palhouse had long since sworn his life to Hope; even after becoming a Paragon, he remained the same, willing to help Hope even at the risk of his own fall.
Hope had not treated Palhouse poorly, later granting him a Midgod Sovereign Spark. Paragon Highgods also climbed from weakness step by step, and Hope, relying on his memories from the Blue Star, could reach these individuals while they were still weak.
Paragon Highgods had also experienced countless slaughters, encountering life-and-death crises more than once before reaching the pinnacle. Hope only needed to intervene slightly to earn their loyalty; this was true for Palhouse, and it was true for Bayer as well.
"Hope, your eye for talent is truly terrifying. I remember that when you took Bayer as a Sovereign Envoy, he had only just reached the level of a Seven-Star Fiend."
Even Oufu's gentle face revealed a rare trace of surprise as he turned to look at Hope, his tone tinged with a hint of envy.
"To deal with the Twelve-Winged Angel, one must always prepare a few extra trump cards."
Hope spoke indifferently, ignoring Augusta's increasingly gloomy expression.
As the Sovereigns chatted, the situation on the Plane Battlefield had completely reversed.
"Wind Dimension Slash!"
A loud shout erupted from Bayer's mouth as he poured Sovereign Power frantically into the thin-winged longsword in his hand. A powerful sense of pressure emerged from his body, and a massive, hundred-meter-long cyan blade of light soared toward the high sky.
"Swish!"
The cyan blade of light was like a dragon, exploding upon reaching the sky and transforming into thousands of tiny, pale-green sword blades that struck the Radiant Divine Realm's formation from all directions.
"BOOM!!!"
The sounds of explosions and wind blades piercing flesh rang out incessantly. The Radiant Divine Realm's camp fell into instant chaos, while the morale of the Water Elemental Plane soared, with soldiers rushing forward in a scramble.
"It's over!"
In the center of the Sovereigns, Utrade spoke in a hoarse voice, his tone tinged with surprise, his gaze toward Bayer carrying an inexplicable meaning.
As the Sovereign of Destruction's words fell, the seven-colored light dissipated once more. The battle in the Star River Passage had ended; the Water Elemental Plane had won.
"Rumble~~"
At this very moment, the heavens and earth shifted, and a terrifying pressure that made all the Sovereigns' hearts tremble suddenly emerged. Four blurred phantoms appeared from the Spatial Turbulence.
[The Water Elemental Plane has achieved ten consecutive victories in the Plane War. All Water Sovereigns are rewarded with one portion of Willpower.]
The voice of the Supreme God echoed in the minds of all the Sovereigns. At this moment, a powerful aura surged from every Water Sovereign.
"Hahaha! Congratulations, Hope."
Oufu was the first to react, being the first to offer his congratulations to Hope. There was no jealousy in his tone, only pure congratulation, making him appear like a gentle old man.
"I am still far behind you, Oufu."
Hope was not surprised by Oufu's congratulations. Oufu seemed incapable of feeling jealousy; he was kind to others in daily life and avoided conflict. Even though Hope had long known of his relationship with Augusta, he still felt a sense of comfort, like a spring breeze, when interacting with Oufu.
"Oufu, your good friend is in a very bad mood right now. Aren't you afraid he'll get angry at you for congratulating Hope like that?"
The Sovereign of Death wore a teasing smile, glancing at Augusta not far away as she spoke to Oufu.
"Hmph!"
Augusta's expression was extremely ugly at this moment. Hearing the Sovereign of Death's words, he said nothing, merely glaring deeply at Hope and letting out a cold snort.
"Alright, Augusta. The Plane War is a matter of one's own ability. That was the case for me in the past, and it is the same for Hope."
Oufu looked at Augusta, his tone remaining gentle, appearing like an old friend soothing a close companion.
Augusta remained noncommittal toward Oufu's attempt at appeasement, merely turning his face away coldly and falling silent.
Seeing this, Oufu shook his head helplessly and said nothing more.
"A Paragon Highgod emissary, is it?"
A look of contemplation flickered within Utrade's gloomy eyes.
"Everyone, I shall take my leave first!"
After the victory of the Water Elemental Plane, Hope did not say much else; he gave a slight nod to the others and was the first to fly toward the direction of the Water Elemental Plane, with the five Water Sovereigns led by Palhouse following closely behind.
"Big sister, I am heading back as well."
The Sovereign of Life greeted the Sovereign of Death and flew toward the Life Divine Realm, accompanied by the many Sovereigns under her command.
As the numerous Sovereigns departed one after another, the Spatial Turbulence gradually returned to calm, yet no one noticed a gray piece of paper flying out from the Plane Battlefield, drifting along within the Spatial Turbulence.
Written clearly upon the paper were these words:
[Wutie Black Sword, Soul Essence, Five-Colored Blood Crystal, fused into the Sword of Destruction, can summon the Supreme God of Destruction, to make one request of the Supreme God of Destruction]
