Background / History

Shrek Academy is the center of Shrek City, whose prosperity is described as comparable to that of the great empires’ capitals. It possesses a ten-thousand-year legacy and is widely treated as the continent’s foremost soul master academy. 2 87

The academy once rejected and forcibly expelled Liu Yuan after his Martial Soul mutated and was judged to have no future, despite his parents’ sacrifices for Shrek. This decision later becomes a defining institutional failure after Liu Yuan rises within the Body Sect. 82 180

After Shrek seeks to reclaim Liu Yuan, Xuan Zi publicly kneels at the Body Sect’s gate and admits that he ignored Liu Yuan’s family merits and expelled him unjustly. Mu En accompanies the effort to bring Liu Yuan back, but the attempt fails. 81 82

Xuan Zi’s apology at the Body Sect fails to resolve the conflict. He subsequently commits Shrek’s strongest main and reserve teams to the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament, intending to restore the academy’s honor through victory. 81 85 87

First Tournament Defeat

Shrek initially suppresses the Heavenly Soul Royal Academy in the tournament final through the strength of Dai Yaoheng, Ling Luochen, Ma Xiaotao, and the reserve team. Liu Yuan nevertheless withstands Dai Yaoheng and Ling Luochen despite a substantial Soul Power disadvantage. 119

Second Tournament and Collapse

Under Xuan Zi’s orders, Shrek reveals its full strength from the first match of the next tournament, defeating Skyfire Advanced Soul Master Academy in less than a minute. Huo Yuhao objects that exposing its abilities early is strategically unsound, but Xuan Zi refuses to moderate the approach. 264

Shrek again faces the Heavenly Soul Royal Academy. After a crushing defeat leaves its core disciples unconscious from spiritual exhaustion, Xuan Zi attempts to assassinate Liu Yuan in his hotel room. Ice Empress blocks the attack. 276
