Background / History

Tang San possessed Innate Full Soul Power and Twin Martial Souls: Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. He initially cultivated the Blue Silver Grass under Yu Xiaogang’s guidance, relying on its control, toxins, hidden weapons, and prediction to protect Shrek’s vulnerable back line. 34 39

While seeking Xiao Wu in the Star Dou Great Forest, he absorbed the soul ring of a Man-Faced Demon Spider and awakened the Eight Spider Lances, an External Spirit Bone. The bone’s appetite for life force repeatedly endangered his judgment, but he initially subdued it through disciplined use of the Mysterious Heaven Skill. Its emergence also created an unexplained resonance with Chen Jieqi’s Heart of the Naaru. 29 31

Repeated defeats and comparisons with Chen Jieqi eroded Tang San’s confidence in Blue Silver Grass. His attempt to awaken its Blue Silver Emperor inheritance failed because his bloodline lacked the core essence of the Emperor; he subsequently committed himself to the Clear Sky Hammer instead. 56 74 89

His fixation on surpassing Chen Jieqi led him to overdraw his Soul Power and damage his meridians. After losing to Huangdou Academy, he isolated himself, briefly allowed the Eight Spider Lances to drain a Wind Baboon’s life force, then treated and released the injured creature in remorse. 90 93 94

Tang San later crushed his weakened Blue Silver Grass and accepted an iron leaf from Tang Hao to suppress the mark of the Asura God. When the leaf broke, he followed the mark to a death-soaked ruin, obtained a dark crimson fifth soul ring, and emerged physically reforged but stripped of parts of his memory and his remaining Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. 95 97 98

Following the tournament, Tang Hao sent him into Slaughter City to gain the strength needed to protect Xiao Wu. Tang San spent two years there, surviving constant killing and becoming increasingly affected by Asura’s divine consciousness. 140 147 153

After returning, he sought to master rather than submit to the Asura inheritance. In Slaughter City, he used his bloodline connection to stabilize Tang Chen, the corrupted Slaughter King, and began separating Asura-origin power from Rakshasa corruption. 182

Appearance

Tang San is a black-clad youth with long black hair, a pale face, and a black Clear Sky Hammer marked by dark crimson patterns. As the Asura influence deepens, crimson marks and a violent blood-red aura become increasingly visible around him. 106 153 155

  • Pure violet eyes when driving the Purple Demon Eye to its limit. 108
  • A crimson lightning-shaped mark concealed beneath his hair after Slaughter City. 153
  • Eight Spider Lances extending from his back; they evolve from blue-violet into dark red and deep blue, then become fully blood-red during his rage. 103 155
  • Dark crimson patterns on his palm and Clear Sky Hammer reflect his Asura power. 181

Personality

Tang San is analytical and highly disciplined in battle. He uses prediction, observation, and precise targeting rather than relying solely on force, as shown when he dismantles the Hell White Tiger fusion by striking its Soul Power nodes. 34 108

His determination to protect Xiao Wu and overcome stronger opponents gradually becomes obsession. Defeat by Chen Jieqi, the failure of his Blue Silver Emperor awakening, and Xiao Wu’s emotional distance drive him toward reckless cultivation, emotional withdrawal, and a growing dependence on the Clear Sky Hammer’s destructive power. 74 90 94 155

Despite this decline, Tang San repeatedly demonstrates a surviving moral restraint. He spares the Wind Baboon after draining it, intentionally lets one Evil Soul Master escape rather than indiscriminately killing all three, and later resolves to wield Asura’s power without becoming its vessel. 93 158 182
