Organization and Entry
- The Outer Sect contains tens of thousands of disciples and serves as the Guiyuan Sect’s largest disciple body. Its members primarily cultivate Blood Qi Realm techniques and compete for advancement. 13 15
- The normal minimum recruitment age for Outer Sect disciples is fourteen. Zhang Su entered at fifteen only because the Su Family spent heavily to secure him a place despite exceeding that limit. 1
- Non–Outer Sect members are prohibited from residing in the Outer Sect. The Funding Association therefore employs Outer Sect disciples to operate its rented courtyard. 13
- Outer Sect disciples may initially choose one cultivation technique and one martial skill free of charge. Zhang Su’s predecessor chose the difficult Great River Divine Art but failed to cultivate Blood Qi during his first year. 1
- The first floor of the Scripture Pavilion houses Blood Qi Realm martial arts. Techniques are priced by grade: ordinary techniques cost 100 contribution points, top-tier techniques cost 300, and supreme techniques cost 500. 2
Cultivation and Promotion
Blood Qi cultivation
- Blood Qi Realm techniques determine the amount of blood qi a disciple can cultivate:
- Ordinary and superior techniques generally support around 100 strands or slightly more.
- Top-tier techniques can cultivate roughly 200–300 strands.
- Peerless techniques can cultivate more than 500 strands. 9
- Internal Force can be produced either by slowly refining the quality of blood qi over many years or by accumulating a sufficiently large quantity of blood qi. 9
- Among Outer Sect disciples, peerless cultivation techniques are extremely rare. At the time of Zhang Su’s rise, only the top three Outer Sect disciples were known to cultivate them; the other seven Top Ten members used top-tier techniques. 13
Inner Sect promotion
| Requirement | Result |
|---|---|
| Cultivate Internal Force before age sixteen | Eligible for direct promotion to the Inner Sect and placement in the Inheritance Sequence. 12 50 |
| Cultivate Internal Force after age sixteen | Must pass the Combat Assessment to enter the Inner Sect as part of the Protector Sequence. 12 46 50 |
| Combat Assessment | An overage disciple must defeat three same-realm puppets without using Internal Force-level martial arts; using such arts results in disqualification and expulsion from the sect. 46 |
- The sect considers overage disciples to have diminished cultivation potential and evaluates them chiefly by combat power. 12 46
- Protector Sequence disciples are expected to serve as the sect’s combat-oriented enforcers in territorial conflicts and resource disputes, unlike Inheritance Sequence disciples, who are cultivated for potential and future leadership. 50
Top Ten Outer Sect Disciples
- The Top Ten Outer Sect Disciples are the ten strongest members of the Outer Sect and its public face. They are selected from among thousands of disciples and receive exceptional attention within the sect. 15 32
- Each Top Ten disciple receives an individual mountain peak as a residence, a privilege unavailable even to ordinary Inner Sect disciples. 32
- Zhang Su’s promotion to tenth place granted him residence on the tenth mountain peak, ten Blood Qi Pills per month, a 10% Trading Hall discount, and one-on-one instruction from an Internal Force elder. 34
- The ranking board removes disciples who die or advance to the Inner Sect. 43
| Rank / position | Documented holder | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tenth | Luo Feng | Held the position before Zhang Su challenged and killed him. 31 33 34 |

| First | Lu Tianqing | Held first place before leaving for the Inner Sect; he later lost a private final Blood Qi Realm battle to Zhang Su. 42 43 |

Notable Events
Zhang Su’s rise
Zhang Su entered the Outer Sect as an overage disciple and spent a year unable to cultivate Blood Qi because of his unsuitable initial technique. After exchanging for the highly compatible Taotie Blood Nourishing Technique, he generated Blood Qi in ten breaths and began advancing rapidly. 1 2
While stalled at the 100-strand blood qi limit, Zhang Su exchanged for thirteen high-compatibility martial arts. He cultivated them to Great Success in half a month, challenged ninth-layer Blood Qi Realm disciples using a different technique in each fight, and became known throughout the Outer Sect as the “Outer Sect Madman.” 10 11
Challenge for the Top Ten
After returning from his journey down the mountain, Zhang Su found Chu Dachuan, Zhao Feng, and Du Tian injured by disciples acting under Luo Feng. He publicly challenged Luo Feng for tenth place, defeated and killed him, and moved to the tenth mountain peak. 29 31 33 34
Bai Junze then blocked access to Jinyu Peak for a month to force a challenge. Zhang Su eventually killed him despite Bai Junze’s perfected peerless Abi Hell Blade, using overwhelming blood energy and the Triple Wave Sword Technique. 37 38 40
Zhang Su later defeated Lu Tianqing and became the Outer Sect’s number one disciple. Lu Tianqing accepted the loss, departed for the Inner Sect, and promised Zhang Su 300 Blood Replenishing Pills. 42
Transition to the Inner Sect
After cultivating 1,000 strands of blood energy and birthing Internal Force, Zhang Su entered the Combat Assessment as an overage Outer Sect disciple. He instantly defeated three early-stage Mingjin puppets with one sword strike, passed, and was promoted to the Inner Sect. 46 49 50
