Background / History

The Five Elements Sect is one of the three major martial powers alongside the Guiyuan Sect and Medicine Valley. It has maintained a longstanding rivalry with the Guiyuan Sect, though the two later joined Medicine Valley in the Three Sects Alliance against the Jingyuan Sect. 111 120 134

A dispute over a mineral vein in Hengshan County escalated the sect’s conflict with the Guiyuan Sect. The two sides imposed cultivation-level restrictions and boundaries on the struggle, then issued bounty lists against opposing martial artists. 81 88

During the Hengshan conflict, the sect suffered serious losses at Zhang Su’s hands. He killed Jiang Taizhen, Sikong Shuang, He Feng, Zhao Yan, Dugu Jian, and several other Huajin experts, severely weakening the Five Elements Sect’s position in the dispute. 96 100 103 106

The sect later attended the Three Sects Exchange Conference at the Guiyuan Sect. Its representative Zhou Dingshan reached the final of the Three Sects Heroes Gathering but was killed by Zhang Su’s Explosive Sword Style. 124 130

Following the Jingyuan Sect’s southern advance, Five Elements Sect disciples stationed near Weiling Mountain were defeated, with more than half of the force killed or wounded. The sect subsequently joined the Guiyuan Sect and Medicine Valley in an alliance against the Jingyuan Sect. 133 134

Organization

The Five Elements Sect is divided into five element-based lineages:

Disciples generally choose one lineage upon entering the Inner Sect and cultivate that lineage’s element-specific techniques. Exceptional disciples, particularly those with suitable elemental affinities, may practice techniques from multiple lineages. 89

Five Elements Fusion

The sect’s defining cultivation path is the fusion of multiple elemental Internal Forces. Its disciples may merge two, three, or four lineages, while complete Five Elements Fusion is extraordinarily rare. 91 130

• Five Elements Fusion — The sect’s most profound technique; its five Internal Forces generate and restrain one another in an unending cycle, granting sustained power. 130
• Four Elements Fusion — A high-level alternative for disciples unable to complete all five elements. Zhou Dingshan used Bedrock Gangjin as a foundation and merged three additional elements to create an exceptionally resilient defense. 130
• Five Elements Unity — Shi Buyi’s perfected state of Five Elements Fusion, described as nearly flawless and without openings due to its ceaseless Internal Force cycle. 81 134 137

Only Shi Buyi is stated to have completed Five Elements Fusion within the previous century. 130

Appearance and Customs

• The sect reveres black, believing that the union of the five elements becomes black. 124
• Its disciples wear black, close-fitting martial attire and commonly carry varied weapons at their waists. 120 124 137
• At the Three Sects Exchange Conference, its disciples occupied the northern stands and were noted for their solemn, quiet demeanor. 124

• Zhong Taiheng — Sect Leader; endorsed the principle that casualties were unavoidable during the Three Sects Heroes Gathering. 130
• Shi Buyi — Sect prodigy and master of Five Elements Unity; defeated Guiyuan Sect prodigy Yu Hualong and later challenged Zhang Su to fight after Zhang Su reaches the Houtian Realm. 82 137
• Zhou Dingshan — Chief disciple of Hou Earth Peak; practiced Bedrock Gangjin and Four Elements Fusion. He was killed by Zhang Su in the final of the Three Sects Heroes Gathering. 130
