Background / History

Rin served with Kakashi Hatake and Uchiha Obito under Namikaze Minato. As the team’s medical ninja, she was repeatedly treated as a priority target by enemy forces, and her capture at Kannabi Bridge created the conflict between Kakashi’s mission-first approach and Obito’s insistence on rescuing her 17 49.

During a later Kirigakure operation, Rin and other medical ninja were captured. After Kakashi freed her, she revealed that Kirigakure had sealed the Three-Tails inside her and implanted a Restraint Curse Seal intended to force her into a rampage 127 130. The seal drove her berserk during the rescue battle; Kiyohara destroyed its key node, extracted the curse seal, and treated her injuries, leaving her alive but severely weakened 134 135.

Because of the danger posed by the Three-Tails, Rin was initially barred from normal missions and assigned to Konoha Hospital instead 139.
