| Guided use | 67 | Magnet Release Kiyohara guides Kiyohara’s chakra, letting him use Magnetic Field Rotation before he can wield Magnet Release independently. |
| Kekkei Genkai inherited | 70 | Killing a Sunagakure Anbu fulfills the future self’s first dying wish. Kiyohara gains Wind and Earth affinity and can produce Magnet Release chakra himself. |
| Complete inheritance | 87 | Defeating Pakura fulfills the second wish. Kiyohara gains substantially finer magnetic control and inherits further iron-sand techniques. |
| Refined Magnetic Field Rotation | 102 | Kiyohara can control the magnetic field within his effective range and sustain its speed and strength enhancement while his chakra lasts. |
| Gold-dust control | 197 | After observing Rasa with his Sharingan, Kiyohara learns to manipulate gold dust and contests Rasa’s control of it. |
Background
The future spirit known as Magnet Release Kiyohara was a Sunagakure ninja whose Magnet Release came from his parents. He had strengthened it by inheriting power from another version of himself. After dying following a challenge to the Fourth Kazekage, he asked Kiyohara to kill a Sunagakure Anbu and defeat Pakura. Fulfillment of those wishes transferred his ability in two stages; the spirit dissipated after the second 60 70 87.
Kiyohara initially practiced Earth Release partly to make a later revelation of Magnet Release less abrupt. He first exposed the ability openly during a Kirigakure attack, when Nohara Rin was in danger. Its emergence in a Konoha ninja subsequently prompted the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, to order intelligence collection on him 61 74 90.
Abilities & Skills
Magnetic Field Rotation
Magnet Release Kiyohara developed this technique to apply magnetism to his own body, drawing on the surrounding magnetic field for physical enhancement 67.
- Increases striking strength and, through repulsion, accelerates movement; Kiyohara uses it to reach Rin and later to fight Kidomaru 67 74 76 102.
- Early guided use places a severe burden on Kiyohara’s body. Inheriting the Kekkei Genkai reduces that burden, but effectiveness still depends on his physique and available chakra 67 74 102.
- Precise control could permit hovering or flight, but Kiyohara initially finds sustained flight difficult to develop 63 85.
Iron-Sand Techniques
Kiyohara manipulates iron sand for restraint, piercing attacks, wide-area offense, and defense 71 87.
- Iron Sand Binding Coffin / Iron Sand Binding — envelops or restrains a target 71 95.
- Iron Sand Giant Needle — compresses iron sand into a sharp spear 71 102.
- Iron Sand Waves — raises a moving mass that blocks attacks and rolls toward enemies 87 90.
- Iron Sand Wall — forms a durable defensive barrier 87 90.
- Iron Sand Shower — fires numerous small projectiles across an area 87 90.
- Extracting iron sand from the ground costs considerable chakra, and suitable sand is not available everywhere; Kiyohara carries a prepared supply 90 103.
Electromagnetic Projectiles and Metal Control
- Electromagnetic Coin — accelerates a compressed iron-sand coin through a magnetic field. Kiyohara strikes at Pakura from 700 meters away; the technique initially requires Magnet Release Kiyohara’s help 85 86.
- Object Manipulation Technique — an experimental method for steering a sword or shuriken through the air. It demands precise chakra control and concentration and remains unfinished during Kiyohara’s early trials 90 91.
- Flying Shuttle — launches a metal needle with Magnet Release chakra; under Cursed Seal enhancement, it breaks the sound barrier 173.
- Interference — Kiyohara can disrupt another user’s magnetized weapons, as he does against Toroi’s shuriken, and challenge control over existing iron sand or gold dust 147 163 197.
Combined Applications
- Steel Release hardens parts of Kiyohara’s body so they can withstand magnetically accelerated punches and kicks 164.
- Magnetically arranged microscopic iron sand intensifies a Fire Release fireball in Fire Style: Microwave Bullet. Its initial version has excessive chakra cost, lengthy preparation, and demanding control requirements 182.
- Kiyohara uses gold dust as a rotating defensive wall after learning to control it 197.
